Okay, so I got my one comment and vote, so as promised, here's the next chapter :) Sorry, the length is still kinda short but I kinda just wanted to end this chapter on the whole "WHAT?!" note. lol. Anyways, I'm gonna ask for one vote and comment again in order to continue, although I admit, I do enjoy writing this :) hehe

A deep, rumbling laugh shocked me out of staring at the annoyingly handsome stranger. Spiky black hair stood to attention on his head, styled in an undeniably cool way. His skin was tanned, like he'd just been lying at the beach all day. I could see the bulging muscles beneath the white shirt he wore, and had to refrain from licking my lips.
At first, I marvelled at the masculine sound of his laughter, but then it clicked that he was laughing at me.
"What the hell!" I yelled, angry, swiftly gathering my black bag and getting up from the floor to better glare at the man. "First you run into me and knock me down, which you are yet to apologise for by the way, and then you have the gall to laugh at me as well! Aren't you the prick?"
As predicted, that wiped the smirk right off his face. I made a show of dusting off my clothes as he just blinked at me.
"Did you just call me a prick?" he asked slowly. He sounded shocked. Hadn't anyone ever told the boy the truth before?
Now it was my turn to smirk. "Yes, I did. Do you need it in writing?"
He opened his mouth to respond, but was cut off by another voice from further down the corridor.
"Julius Alfred Silas!" a female voice screeched, and the man before me cringed at the sound.
I raised an eyebrow at him. "Alfred?" I asked, amused.
"Shut up!" he snapped, turning towards the voice with an angelic smile plastered across his features. "Mother," he said respectfully, bowing his head slightly as a woman approached us.
She had the same colour hair as her son, but her eyes were the most beautiful shade of blue I'd ever seen. It was the colour of still water in a lake, unpolluted, sharp, clean. She also appeared quite young, and had a delicate, petite figure about her, although the tone of her voice told me that she wasn't quite as fragile as she first appeared.
I jumped slightly when she turned those piercing eyes on me. It was like she was taking in my every flaw, looking right into my soul, and it made me more than a little uncomfortable.
"I'm sorry, was my boy bothering you?" she asked, her voice soft and litling, like melted honey. My gaze flitted over to Julius, who was doing some serious silent pleading with me not to say anything.
"Actually, he was just about to apologise for knocking me over," I said, grinning slightly as an idea formed. "I believe he just promised to grovel at my feet for forgiveness, if I do recall correctly." I somehow managed to keep a straight face, turning my oh so innocent gaze to Julius as he sent me a look of hatred.
"Really?" his mother replied, sounding intrigued. "My Julius, grovelling for forgiveness? This is something I must see." She waved a hand at him. "Go on then boy, down on your knees. If you're going to grovel Jules, you might as well do it properly."
Julius' panicked gaze found his mother's. "B-B-But I-"
I quickly interrupted him. "Go on then Jules, down on your knees. It's not proper to disobey your mother."
Personally, I was thoroughly enjoying the tortureed look on Julius' face. Reluctantly, Julius sank to his knees at my feet, almost as if he was about to propose. He grabbed the hand that wasn't holding my bag and kissed it softly. I had to stop a shiver before it formed. His lips felt like silk on my palm, but I managed to keep an indifferent expression as I looked down at him.
"I apologise for knocking you over," he said, and even manged to sound sincere, although his eyes showed me it was all an act. "It was an accident that will never occur again."
Then he ripped his hand from mine as if I burned him and stood, glancing around to see if anyone had seen, which they hadn't, much to my disappointment. Much to my surprise, I immediately found myself missing the warmth his hand and lips offered. I just internally shook my head at myself. This boy screamed player and I'd promised myself that I wouldn't ever fall for one. All they did was use people, not caring about the collateral damage.
"Was that to your satisfaction?" Julius asked, his face blankly polite, although his eyes burned with the need for vengence.
I smiled sweetly at him. "Of course you are forgiven Julius. I am not one to hold a grudge." I used my serene princess voice, a voice that seemed to anger him further.
We gazed heatedly at each other for a few long moments before the spell was broken by his mother clearing her throat.
"I don't believe I caught your name." I threw a smile in his mother's direction, milking the sweet innocent act for all it was worth.
"Of course, how rude of me!" I exclaimed, putting my hand to my chest, mirroring the words and actions I'd seen my mother perform many times. "My name is Princess Rebecca." I did a small courtsey. "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance Mrs Silas."
Before she could reply, Jules snorted.
"You're the princess?" he scoffed. His mother glared at him, slapping him around the back of the head.
"Julius!" she growled, before turning back to me with a dazzling smile. "Please excuse my son's rudeness." She looked apologetic and I had to stiffle a giggle. If only she knew I wasn't the sweet, innocent princess that I was appearing to be...
"Nonesense," I said, dismissing it, earning me a grateful look from Jules. "I grew up with an older brother, I know what boys are like and how to handle them." While I said this to Mrs Silas, I was looking at Jules, who simply raised an eyebrow at me.
His mother chuckled. "So it would seem." There was a mischievous glint in her eye that led me to believe that she probably wasn't falling for my innocent act... Meh.
"Anyway, I was wondering if you could point me in the direction of the throne room," Mrs Silas continued. "I'd like to catch up with May and Philip. It's been a while since I last saw them..."
"You personally know my parents?" I asked, frowning. Why hadn't I seen her around before?
Mrs Silas laughed. "Of course dear, May and I were childhood friends. I'm afraid we haven't seen each other much since I moved away with my husband."
"Oh, so what brings you back? Are you just visiting or are you moving back into the area?" I inquired, curious.
"Your parents really do tell you nothing," she murmured, looking amused. I just frowned in confusion. "Rebecca, Julius will be staying in the palace with you for a couple of months."
I choked. On what, I don't know, but I nonetheless choked. "What?!"
