"Rebecca, get your butt out here now!" Zola yelled from outside my bedroom door, furiously turning the handle.
"But I don't wanna!" I whined, wincing as I tightened by grip on the knob, making sure she couldn't get in.
"Would you stop being difficult?" she demanded, ceasing her attempts at breaking in...for now.
"Never!" I cried dramatically, yelping slightly when she suddenly tried to yank the door. "If you break my door, you're buying me a new one," I told her.
She snorted. "Like it will break!"
"That's what you said about mum's vase," I reminded her.
There was a pause. "That was different."
I laughed, forgetting about holding the door closed, yelling when the door suddenly flew open. I stumbled backwards, falling ungraciously onto my butt. Throwing a glare in Zola's direction, I quickly jumped to my feet, only to fall straight back down after tripping on my dress, which came to around my ankles. Zola's tinkling laughter filled the room.
"Shut up!" I retorted, sticking my tongue out at her, trying to tone down the slight blush on my cheeks.
Trying to retain the dignity I'd never had, I waltzed past her and graciously began to descend the stairs into hell. My eyes roamed over the laughing guests all talking in obnoxiously posh voices, the bright, false smiles on all of their faces. God, I was already getting a headache.
I paused near the bottom of the stairs, reluctant to let myself drown in this sea of manikins. I felt Zola appear beside me. She linked her arm with mine and smiled encouragingly at me before tugging me forcefully off into the crowd. Almost immediately, we were surrounded by a large group of people all interested in meeting their Princess.
"Rebecca, darling, this is just such a fabulous party."
"Oh my, I just love your dress.Wherever did you get it?"
"Well look at you, aren't you all dolled up? You look fabulous!"
My ears hurt from the overload of overeager women trying to gain my attention. Plastering on my brightest fake smile, I sauntered over to them.
"Well," I began, wishing I could be anywhere else but here.
Two hours later
"And then," a surprisingly drunk woman slurred, "I threw my champagne all over him, because that's nothing more than he deserved!" I forced a laugh, barely managing to refrain from banging my head against the wall...repeatedly.
"I'm sure," I managed to grit out. "If you'll excuse me for just one moment..."
I didn't give the woman, whatever the hell her name was, any time to respond. I just got out of there as fast as I could.
But in my haste to get away, when I turned, I ended up crashing into someone. There was a loud clatter as something, presumably a tray, fell to the ground. A cold, sticky substance seeped its way into my skin through the front of my dress. The whole room was suddenly silent, gazes fixed on me to study my reaction.
Slowly, I looked down at my now ruined dress, surveying the damage. Then I looked up at the shocked looking servant who had dropped it all on me. And my heart literally stopped in my chest. (I was gonna leave it here, but then I was like, nahhh, I'm late updating, I'll be nice ;P)
Gorgeous blue eyes gazed at me with shock. Spikey brown hair sat atop his perfect head, glossy and shiny in the dim lighting. His build was quite large, his generous muscles visible even beneath the suit he wore. Just looking at him made my mouth water.
Instead of showing any of these emotions, I kept a stoney face.
"Come with me please," I commanded before he could speak, turning on my heel and quickly making my way upstairs, knowing that the hot servant would follow. When I entered my bedroom, I heard him hesitate for a brief moment before he entered, gently closing the door behind him.
While he was closing the door, I flicked the hidden switch on what was disguised as a TV remote to sound proof the room, meaning none of the nosy guests could listen in. Almost immediately after the door closed, he spoke.
"I'm so sorry Princess Rebecca!" he exclaimed in his deep, rumbly voice. God, what a voice! "I should have been more careful! I'm-"
"Thank you so much!" I interrupted him, not really wanting to hear his apologies. I went over and jumped onto my bed, sighing contentedly at its warm embrace.
"Princess?" the man asked, clearly confused. "You're not...angry?"
I looked at him like he was crazy. "Why the hell would I be angry? You saved me! Now I have a proper excuse to leave early!" He shot me a 'what the hell' look. "Oh, don't give me that look. Do you know how horrible it is to be the centre of attention at these horrific events?" I ranted, while Mr Hot backed up a few steps at my tone. Seeing this, I took a deep, calming breath.
"Anyway," I said, smiling at him. "I don't think I caught your name."
"My name is Ethan, Princess," he told me, flashing a dazzling grin that made my heart flutter.
"Well then, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance Ethan," I replied, throwing him a heart-stopping smile of my own.
"Likewise Princess."
I snorted. "Can you stop with the Princess crap please? It's not as if anyone else is here..."
He raised an eyebrow. "You don't like to be called Princess?"
"I fucking hate it," I told him honestly. "Unless it's absolutely necessary, please don't call me that."
"Okay, then whenever you're alone, you're Rebecca."
I grinned. "We're going to be alone again?" I asked, making him blush slightly. "And it's Becca," I added firmly.
Instead of answering my question, he just grinned.
"Well then Becca, I'd better get back to the party. People might begin to think you've murdered me."
I chuckled. "Let them think that. It's got to be killing them, seeing as they can't hear us. Nosy bastards."
He laughed. "That they are, that they-"
That was when the screams started.
