"Wake up," yelled an annoyed voice right in my ear.

"For the Moon's sake Xander!" screamed someone else, who's voice my groggy mind refused to register. I buried my head under the pillow, unwilling to leave the realm of dreams.

"Zola, this is not your concern," retorted the first voice. "Rebecca has responsibilities that she must fulfill, and she-"

"Royalty or not, if you continue that sentence, I'll slap you across your pretty little face," Zola threatened.

I knew that I needed to stop their argument, but I couldn't seem to find the strength to move; I could do nothing but helplessly listen.

"Now is not the time for this Zola. You are dismissed."

There was a long pause. "Xander, don't be like this. Don't let this...this anger get the better of you. This isn't you! Please, just-"

"You are dismissed," the first voice yelled, the alpha tone clear in his voice.

After a short moment, there was the slam of a door. And then all of a sudden, light flooded over me as the pillow was yanked from my face and I was roughly pulled up. My bleary eyes blinked open to find an identical pair glaring down at me.

"What do you want?" I moaned, trying to fall back onto the bed. Xander's tight grip on my arms kept me upright.

"The Kingdom needs you Rebecca. You must be downstairs for breakfast in fifteen minutes. I'll explain the rest then."

He let me go, and I flopped back down onto the bed with a start. When I went to glare at him, he was already halfway to the door.

"I'm not doing anythi-"

"Becca, this isn't the time for your childish games!" he roared, spinning around. "Do you even understand what's at stake?" His eyes flooded black, his canines extending as he snarled at me. Never had Xander thrown me such a look.

In response, I felt my own eyes change to the cold ice blue colour of my wolf, my teeth pulling back into a growl. I jumped off the bed and stormed over to him.

"Just shut the hell up for a minute and let me talk," I  snapped, growling viciously when he opened his mouth. It quickly closed. "Until you say sorry to Zola for speaking to her in such a rude manner, I will not be doing anything. You have a lot of nerve to storm in here and talk to her that way. She was so good to me yesterday and look how you repaid her!"

"Oh, come on Becca! Really?" he asked, disbelief colouring his tone.

"You should really hurry up and find her," I said, throwing him a thin smile over my shoulder as I went to sit down at my dressing table, leisurely running a comb through my tangled hair. "Because until you do, I won't be doing whatever it was that sounded so important."

Turning back around, I pretended to focus on my hair. A few moments passed before he stormed towards the door. He paused there and swiveled back around.

"I don't need this," he muttered, and I could feel his glare burning a hole in my back.

I met his gaze in the mirror. "Neither did she," I whispered.

Our eyes locked and held, until finally, Xander looked away.

"Andy, Mum is like a mother to Zola too. She's probably feeling everything that we are and more; you know damn well what she went through with her own mum. She deserves better and you know it." I got up and walked over to him. "Just go talk to her. I'll meet you downstairs." I gave him a quick hug.
