"Kayla? Kayla. Can you hear me?" I quickly moved to the bed where Kayla was lying down.

"What happened? Where am I?" She asked, trying to sit up.

"You fainted. I brought you to the hospital. Why didn't you tell me that you were hurt? Look at all these bruises," I mumbled, softly brushing my fingers over the wound on her forehead.

"Oh, I told you I fell down," She said softly.

"Don't lie to me. You have a black eye. And the doctor told me your ribs are broken in three places. Also, you've got a huge scar on your forearm. I don't think those are things that could happen from a fall. What is really going on?" I said in one breath.

Kayla sighed heavily in resignation. "Okay, I'll tell you, but not right now. Tell me what happened to you? Did you talk to your dad?" She winced as she talked.

I took a deep breath before speaking.

"Hey, Jen, is my dad in the studio?" I asked my dad's assistant.

She smiled at me and nodded before focusing on her work.

I grabbed the door knob but hesitated when I heard people whispering inside. A woman giggled and a familiar laughter of a man followed. I knew it was my dad with that woman again. This was my chance to catch them red-handed. I pushed the door open, not giving them an opportunity to detach themselves. The sight that met my eyes was not pretty. Dad had her pressed up against the wall and the woman had her arms locked around his head. They quickly jumped apart when they heard the door open.

"Dad, what do you think you're doing?" I hissed at him.

"Zach..I- I can explain," He stuttered.

"Okay, then explain to me why you're all over this woman and lying to me and my mom. Did you ever think of mom? How much you're hurting her?" I snapped at him.

"Kate, can you give us a moment? I'll call you later." My dad turned to her. She gave a small smile and brushed past me and out the door.

"Why don't you take a seat?" He pointed at the couch.

"No thanks, I'm good." I said, folding my arms over my chest defiantly.

"I know this looks bad," He began.

"It is bad. What the hell were you thinking, cheating on mom like that?" I cut him off. I was breathing heavily.

"Language, Zach. I'm still your dad." He looked at me sternly.

"Well, you sure aren't doing a good job of that." I said furiously.

"I'm sorry. I never wanted to hurt your mom." He said in a sad tone.

"Then why did you do this? What happened to you? You still love mom, right?"

"Honestly, I don't even know what I feel now. I loved her a lot but now I don't feel the same way about her."

"How is that possible? I've seen you with mom. You look at her like she's the only woman in the world. So how did this happen?" I asked exasperatedly.

"I don't expect you to understand. But sometimes people fall out of love. I guess that's what happened to me with your mom." He placed a hand on my shoulder.

"What are you planning on doing now? Keep lying to her till the end?" I shrugged his hand off.

"No. Your mom is a good woman and I still care about her. I've hurt her enough and I'm not going to keep doing it over and over again." He replied firmly.
