Kayla Wilson
Bright sunlight filtered into the room through the curtains and I opened my eyes to the familiar room. Zach's arms were around me and I watched him sleep peacefully.
Since it was a Sunday I had the day free to hang out with Nico.
I slowly removed Zach's hand and got out of bed and went into the shower. After getting ready, I wrote a note to Zach and went downstairs.
Preparing a simple breakfast with toast and bacon, I left it wrapped on the counter with the note.
'I'm meeting up with Nico today. Hope you have great day. Miss you already. XOXO Kayla'
I got out of the house, locking the front door with the spare key Zach had given me. I remembered the day he gave me the key, saying that if anything went wrong, his house could be my escape zone.
I started walking, texting Nico to meet me near the beach. I usually walk because for one, I love it and also it's good exercise.
Around 20 minutes later, I reached the beach and saw Nico waving at me energetically with both hands. If he was trying to embarrass me, it worked. Shaking my head, I went to him and we went inside Beach Side Cafe'.
We took a table at a corner and had gotten ourselves comfortable when Colin arrived at our table.
"Hey, what can I get you guys?" he asked warmly.
"The usual for me Colin, you know what I like," I said with a smile.
"I’ll have whatever she is having." Nico blurted out.
"Do you even know what I'm getting?" I rolled my eyes at him.
"Whatever you get, I don't doubt that it would taste great." Nico smirked.
“Nice save.”
Colin laughed and headed to the counter to talk with Becca and placed our orders.
They both were talking to each other and I saw Colin sweetly pinching Becca's nose. They were one of the adorable couple I knew from here.
Becca looked up at me and waved blushing a bit that I was starting at the with a goofy grin plastered on my face.
"So tell me, what news do you have for me?" Nico asked, leaning back against his chair.
"Yeah, before that, yesterday I saw Jake. And I don't know, he was acting very weird. He kept checking me out. I felt so uncomfortable," I filled Nico in.
"That asshole, he's always like that. I bet he’s regretting that he let you go now," Nico muttered.
"Why? I'm still the same person I was before. He just wants to take advantage of me," I grumbled, rolling my eyes.
After I got over the shock of seeing him, all I have been seeing is red when I think of him. He only wanted me when he needed me and he threw me aside when it became obvious that I would need his support and encouragement. He couldn’t handle someone like me.
"You shouldn't waste your time thinking about him," Nico said, looking at me. His eyes held something that I had never noticed before.
