Kayla Wilson

A week passed since the day I was at Zach's house and before I knew it, it was already the twins' birthday which was a Saturday. Blake came a day before their birthday and was staying at a hotel nearby. Ron was also staying there while Ashlin crashed in the guest room in the house.

Over the week, Ashlin had become a lot more civil with me. It seemed like she was suddenly tired of our continued bickering. Ron also dropped by the house and tried talking to me. I hadn't talked to him much either unless I had to say something necessary.

Blake showed up just rarely and he took the twins out the day he came. He just greeted me and that was the only thing he said after not seeing me for so many years.

It was hectic in the house so I often went out with Zach and our group of friends. It was the same routine for me the past week. School, work and hang out with friends.

Since Ashlin was in the house she took care of the twins so I didn't have to worry about them being alone or anything like that. Dad also had been staying in the house most of the days after he was done with his work. All these changes had taken a bit of a toll on me and I felt uncomfortable due to it.

I was so used to the empty house and the lonely nights, now when I see everyone in the house laughing or acting normal, I felt so out of place in my own house.

Hanging out with Zach and his friends helped me get through it. Melissa also took me out and showed me around the town after I was done with work. I also told her about my mom and how I was back then. She was crying when I finished telling her about it. After that it was like our friendship grew more and we have our crazy girl talks now. She had become my best friend with whom I could share almost everything with.

Zach took me out on a surprise date, which was actually a double date with Liam and Melissa. We had so much fun, watching a movie and going to a game arcade. After that grabbing dinner we all rode in Liam's jeep and ended up in our usual spot, the beach near Jack's café. It was always our own hangout place. We all felt a special connection to that spot. Jack also joined with us and shared his old stories with us. It was really incredible being with them, it felt like I belonged with them.

"Kayla, is the food ready?" Ashlin asked me for the thousandth time.

"Yes, Ashlin, it's ready. It has been ready for the past freaking hour," I replied rolling my eyes.

"Sorry, I just want everything to be perfect when they come back. This should be a very successful surprise party for the twins," she said affectionately.

"Don't worry, it's gonna be one of the best birthdays they will have," I answered.

The house has been decorated with balloons and all sorts of decorating materials for the party. On the dining table the cake was placed in the middle, while gifts were placed on the side.

"Hey, Blake called just now, they are gonna be here any moment," Ron said, slipping his phone inside his pocket.

"Where is dad?" Ashlin asked, looking around.

"I'm here." Dad answered shortly, climbing down the stairs.

Suddenly the door clicked open and we all prepared to surprise the twins.

"SURPRISE!!"

We all yelled when they both entered the house with Blake. The looked astonished and big smiles spread on their faces as they took in the surroundings.

"Wow! Did you guys plan this? For us?" Tina asked as she looked around, gaping.

"Of course, we wanted to make this birthday special for you guys," Ashlin wished them and gave each of them a hug.
