I run and run. I'm starting to get light headed, but I shake it off. I'm starting to get tired, but I can't shake that off. I fall to the ground, tired and ill. I look down at my paws, bent and bloody. Sticks poked into my paws. "Why?" I bark. Why can't you just let me off the hook? Why can't you just let me go?!?!" A tear runs down my face. "Buddy, Mom, Dad, Why did you all have to leave so soon?" I hear a crackle in the leaves. What would Buddy do? What would Buddy do? I thought to myself. I got up and slowly walked toward the place I heard the strange noise.
"Gotcha!" A tall man in a brown suit but a rod with a metal oval around my neck. It tightened, and tightened, until it was getting a little tough to breathe. He tugged at the rod, I was forced to follow. "C'mon! Do us all a favor and corporate!" He tightened the metal collar. Now I had to breathe out of my mouth, which as still a challenge. He tugged me over to a big car, Buddy knows how to read, so before he taught me a little bit. The first word was a little difficult. The first letter was a J I believe, then O, N, E, S, J-J-JONES. Now the second word, P-P-PET SHOP. PET SHOP!?!?! The man shoved me into a small cage that I couldn't even turn around in. "Sit!" I look around as if I don't know what that means. "Sit!!" He yelled louder. I did nothing. He grabbed the metal collar and made it as tight as it can be. I couldn't breathe, at all. "SIT!" I sat. He released the collar and I gasped for air. "Now, stay that way and don't move." He slammed the door. I hear an engine. Suddenly, we start to move. We were only in the van for five minutes, but it felt like five hours. All these thoughts ran around in my brain. The van comes to a stop and I fly forward, hitting the bars in front of me. The doors open and the lights temporally blind me. But this time, the man was gone, it was a woman.
"Awww! You are so adorable!" I usually bark at strangers, but I had a good feeling about her. She opened the door and picked me up. She held me tightly to her chest and pet my head. "You're so fluffy! What's his name?" You know how in pet stores the give the pets the weirdest names?
"Ummm, Albert." There you go. Albert is a name you give a Jewish scientist from Germany, not an adorable border collie puppy!
"Albert?"
"Yup." The man said.
"That doesn't seem right." The woman smiled at me.
"What'd mean?" The man frowned at me.
"How about..." Please start with a B! Then a U! "Buddy! I like that name." Really? I mean, REALLY? You give me the name of my dead brother? No, not now, not never. I bite at her fingers. "Buddy?" I growled. "What? Do you not like that name?" I stick out my tongue and smiled. "How about...Zander?" I growled. "Fluffy?" I growled again. "Mr. Fluffkins?" I growl. "Buster?" I bark and lick her hand. "Buster it is."
"Don't get to attached to this fur-ball, if e' doesn't find a home in two weeks..." He moved his index finger across his neck slowly.
"Two weeks? Only two?" The woman held me tighter.
"We found this guy wandering the forest with bloody paws. No one would want a dog like that." I never wanted an owner, but if I don't get one soon...let's just say I'll see Spike and Buddy. I mean, as much as I miss them, I wants to continue my adventure.
"So? We can easily find a vet to help-"
"And do YOU have the money for that?"
"I um-"
"I thought not." The man yanked me out of her arms.
"Hey!"
"This puppy doesn't deserve a home."
