"Ok, one road until-"
"Hello Detroit!" I cut him off.
"Yup, you go first." He pushed me towards the road.
"Uhh...no thanks. You go."
"Buster. Go. Now."
"Fine." I look across to the other side. A couple yards away. Definitely the busiest road I've ever seen. I look, cars coming, I wait, I look again, cars coming, I wait. I look back at Bud. "Maybe we should do this at night."
"It will still be busy. It's a highway."
"Can we go around it?"
"We'd have to go out of the state to do that."
"*sigh" I look, and wait.
"Jump, once you hit the ground, move your legs as fast as you can. On 3."
"Wait. What?"
"3..." I get ready. "2..." I look at Bud. "1." I jump, then me feet hit the ground and move faster then they ever had. My mind goes blank, all I think about is running." Go go go!" Bud shouts. I do a final leap, then land in so grass. I look over to the other side, I see Bud looking at me from the other side. He then jumps and runs over. But he then trips on a rock. Face first into the concrete.
"Buddy!"
"I'm...ok." Bud replied. He slowly rose from the ground.
"Buddy! Watch out! There's a car!" I shout. He looks up, but he wasn't quick enough. And boom, just like that, he was hit. "BUDDY!" His limp body didn't move. I gathered my confidence, and ran out into the road. I grabbed his body and dragged it to the other side. "Buddy? Are you ok?"
"Buster...it's time..."
"What? Time for what?"
"For you to start your own adventure...I'll start mine too."
"Buddy, no! You can't do this!"
"I'm afraid I have no choice."
"Buddy...I...I can't do this alone."
"Buster."
"What?!?"
"Goodbye." His eyes slowly began to shut. My eyes fill with tears. I collapse on his limp body.
"Buddy..."
