I was in pain. It felt like a huge amount of pressure was against my head, and my body felt sore. I slowly opened my eyes and saw nothing but concrete walls with broken blue and white paint. I tried getting up, my arms shaking as I lifted myself. I focused a little bit more in the empty room. There was a closed door in front of me with a rectangular window. It was covered with what looked to be a dirty rag. The memories instantly flooded back, and my eyes widened at the unknown location I was in. I jumped up and tried running towards the door, but I was jerked back against the cold floor. My legs were tied to a pole on the ground, and my hands were handcuffed together. I struggled against the cuffs and rope on my legs, but the rough material scratched my soft skin. I started to panic more and more as cold sweat ran down my back. Tears formed in my eyes as the constant struggle only tightened the rope. The door unlocked and slowly opened. I jerked up and crawled all the way against the wall as the light burned my eyes. The silhouette of a man stood by the door as he started walking to me. I tried yelling or saying something but a handkerchief was tied around my mouth. The man untied the rope from my legs and roughly gripped my small arm and dragged me into the light coming from the door. I stumbled on my shaking legs. The blood returning to my feet. Keeping up with the guy was difficult so I let him drag me. I still couldn't comprehend the amount of restraints they'd put on me. My tiny frame and weak built would never be able to escape anything anyways.
I'm sure if I was tied with some ribbons, I still wouldn't be able to escape.
"Haha yea sure, like we would risk you escaping with some ribbons." A deep voice rumbled from the man dragging me.
Wait, what?
I was sure I didn't say that out loud. I couldnt even if i tried.
"Okay, so we can do this the easy way or the hard way" The dark voice spoke.
That sentence. I hated it so much. It was the typical 'bad guy' line that would be in movies which either meant the victim had to comply or die, and I hated the mere thought of that.
"You can be a good girl and tell me how you got that necklace of yours, or we can make you tell us. Make it easy for both of us, please." He continued.
I instantly looked down towards my necklace. It was a little moon with a rain drop hanging inside it. My brother had given it to me before he disappeared. He used to wear it. I didn't reply to the man, I wasn't sure what was so important about the necklace. Well, at least to him.
I looked up to see him. He had a gas mask around his neck, and wore dark glasses with a bandanna covering his nose and mouth. It was the same guy that I last saw in my town. The one who picked me up, and took me to this strange place. We arrived to a big room with many tables and vending machines. The man sat me at one of the tables. He unlocked one of the cuffs, and wrapped it around a hole on the table, cuffing my hand once again. He walked to one of vending machines, stuffing a few dollars into it. The machine seemed to freeze up and break down a bit. He forcefully kicked it and made it work again. A sandwich fell into the slot. He angrily grabbed it, and walked back to me.
"Stupid old machines." He mumbled.
He put the small sandwich in front of me and sat down across from where I was, tearing down the handkerchief to my neck. I whimpered slightly at the rude action. The sandwich looked amazing. My stomach grumbled loudly. I had no idea how long it was since I had eaten anything, although I felt unsafe and looked up at the man in front of me.
"What the hell do you want? I got you food, are you gonna eat it or not? I recommend you do because you seem a bit stupid right now. You slept enough so just eat." He said reaching behind him and pulling out a phone. He leaned on the table and started typing something on it.
I still didn't trust him but hunger won me over. I carefully grabbed the sandwich, opened it slowly, and took a small bite out of it.
Mmm, so good
I didnt waste time, taking huge bites and finishing the sandwich instantly.
"Damn! For a tiny thing like you, you sure eat like a starving wolf." He said with a chuckle, almost amused.
"...im s-sorry." I finally spoke. My voice was weak and small, almost silent.
"Hmm......do you want some water with that?" He asked
"umm....." I lifted my head a little more, noticing a change in mood from the man.
"Ill get you some."
He got up again and went to the vending machine. The double doors in the far wall of the room opened. More men entered. They seemed bigger and scarier. They wore some strange colored masks with creepy designs and expressions.
"What's up Aid? Find any other junk around town?" The man in the front spoke. His voice was gravely and strong. Scary.
"This girl bumped into me. She has a silver necklace. I think it has a diamond on it but I'm not sure. Is she useful?" The guy that was with me replied, making his voice as dark as the other guys.
Everyone turned to look at me. It sent chills all over my body, I felt so tiny and defenseless compared to the huge giants starring at me.
"Oh c'mon Aid you can do better than that. All you got was a little baby? Couldn't you at least just tear off the necklace and leave her behind? We don't need her" The man with the scariest mask said.
The guy that I was with lowered his head a little. Then the man with the mask came up to me and tugged my shirt. He jerked me towards him and grabbed my necklace.
I yelled and tried pushing away. It was the only thing I had left of my brother. He had been everything to me. I'd never met my parents, he was all i had. He filled in their spot and gave me everything I needed. The cost of the necklace didn't matter to me, but the meaning of it did. I wasn't gonna lose it now. The man tugged on it slowly, building up the force until I thought it would break.
"NOOO!!!!" I screamed and started kicking.
Eventually I accidentally kicked him in the bad spot. He let go of me and grasped where I hit him. I fell to the floor and twisted my wrist. The man chuckled a bit then stood up.
"You little shit!" He stood up slowly but his voice sounded furious.
He grabbed something in his belt and pointed it to me. A pistol. My eyes grew and I tried to back away but the cuffs only went so far. He was pointing straight at my forehead.
"What the fuck are you doing Sam?!?" The guy that was with me yelled and ran towards me.
He put his hand on the guy with the gun, only making him turn around and punch him in the nose. He fell backwards with a groan.
"What have you gone soft? This bitch isn't worth a penny so stay the fuck out if this!" The mask said. It almost seemed like the mask's features also changed into an angry expression.
I felt hopeless.
What have i done?
