Sunlight, blinding beauty filled with promise of new life, reaches it's gentle fingers into the cave where the citizens of the Underground emerge. Asgore and Toriel lead the way, followed by Frisk, Chara, and Asriel. A brisk breeze lurks just outside the shelter of the cave, but none show signs of chill. All of them are too amazed by their surroundings.

Wildflowers spill in pools around their feet and hang off the cliffs and edges of the mountain peak. A few petals float in the wind, filling the air with a scent so strong and sweet, like perfume. There are few trees, but one whose branches hang off the cliff precariously. The sky is bright and blue and they can see faint clouds below, covering dense forests and vast lands. The light sparkles on teary faces and comforts the few frightened of the new world. So does the laughter of Frisk, who bravely hurries to the cliff's edge, carefree and happy.

Chara follows them and Asriel stays close behind. They come up behind Frisk and their own smile shows, though smaller and shyer than Frisk's. Carefully, they put a hand on their shoulder, and when they don't pull away they wrap their arms around the smaller child. Frisk laughs again and holds Chara's arms as they watch the sky together, the movement of the clouds mesmerizing them both.

Out of the corner of their eye Chara sees Asriel making his way to stand with their parents. They knew they should too, but they wanted to stay here with Frisk a little longer. Before they always had privacy, could speak freely in Frisk's mind without anyone else overhearing. Since Chara's return they haven't had even one of those moments and they already missed them. They were determined to have Frisk to themselves soon, to show their gratitude to them personally and maybe talk again like they once did. Chara wasn't sure if they could stand not having them to talk to anymore.

They looked so far off, staring out into the sky. Were they thinking of somewhere, someone, they left behind when the climbed the mountain? Did they want to go back there? Did they want to leave the life they had made with the monsters, with Asgore and Toriel, with Asriel, with Chara?

Soon, after everyone had made their way outside, Toriel asked Frisk that very question. "My child," she started, "I know you have made wonderful friends throughout your adventure. You have done so much for everyone here and many here love you very much. Goodness, you've given Asgore and I our children back. You have no idea how thankful we are. But, it wouldn't be fair of me to assume you'd want to stay here. My child, is there anywhere you want to go? Anyone you want to see? Any place you need to be?"
Frisk stepped out of Chara's embrace and thought for a long time. They stared at the ground. They fiddled with their fingers nervously and chewed on their bottom lip. They looked like the thoughts that debated in their head weren't pleasant ones. Finally they looked up, and connected eyes with all of them before turning back to Toriel.

"I want to stay with you!" Frisk said confidently, and ran to hug her.

Chara's entire body relax, and they saw Asriel do the same. Nobody wanted Frisk to leave and everyone was happy with their answer.

Asriel hugged Frisk again after they let go of Toriel and told them that he was glad they were staying. Chara didn't say anything, but hoped their smile and hug were enough. Then everyone else hugged and thanked Frisk once again, and continued until Asgore cleared his throat. He spoke.

"Everyone, this is the beginning of a new era, one hopefully full of peace between humans and monsters. However, the humans do not know just yet that the barrier has been destroyed, so as to make the best impression possible I believe that we should camp out here for a day or two before traveling down. I know many of you are eager to leave, as I am, but it will give us more time to prepare for the questions that will arise, and will also give many of you time to pack things you might have left behind in a hurry once you realized the barrier was gone. So, let's set up, shall we?"

Everyone agreed to camping around the entrance for a while and hurried to set up. A few went back to get things, including Papyrus, who exclaimed about making everyone 'picnic pasta' for dinner that night. Sans and Undyne followed to help, and Alphys went after Undyne after a minute of standing there awkwardly.

Asgore and Toriel went to help with the camp, but told the kids to relax and hang out. "Don't wander too far though," Toriel warned the three. They nodded and walked around until they found a nice patch of grass that was soft enough to lay on. They all sat together for a while, talking and laughing, until Frisk fell asleep. Asriel wasn't far behind, exhausted from their long travels. Chara stayed awake for a while, content in watching over their friends and savoring the warmth in their sleepy hugs, but they too soon succumbed to sleep.
