Chara expected to see a bright flash of light, an explosion of pain in their brain; they expected to swim in the familiar ocean of torture they felt when they were first shot with an arrow so long ago. Instead their was a flash of red and a hard force pulling them away.

Frisk yells, yanking Chara behind them as they run. Chara almost falls, dizzy and in shock, but Frisk pulls them back up and keeps them going. They can hear footsteps behind them, but gradually they become fainter. However, they were still there, following them.

Then, Chara notices something. "Frisk! We're going the wrong way, the campsite was back there!"

"We can't lead them back to the monsters Chara! We have to lose them somehow!"

The footsteps were getting closer.

"We can't lose them Frisk! The monsters can fight back, we can't! We have to go back!"

Chara stops and grabs Frisk. They start to run in the other direction, towards the campsite, towards safety. Frisk runs behind them, but they look a bit more terrified. Chara was worried too, but they knew that the monsters could defend themselves.

Slowly Chara starts to see light coming through the trees and feel a little better. They had almost made it. Then they hear the sound of closing approaching footsteps and they feel their heart in their throat once again. The sound of a string being pulled pierces their ears and the shout to Frisk to duck. Another arrow flies over their heads and they pick up speed. They were almost there, almost at the edge, almost to safety.

And then they burst through the tree line and Chara and Frisk both scream incoherently, waking most of the monsters in a panic. Toriel and Asgore rush out of their tents and the children fall into their arms. Chara, legs shaking in pain, sobs into Toriel shoulder. Frisk, still saken out of a bit more composed, explain the situation to both of them.

"We were in the woods and someone shot an arrow at Chara so we started running but I think they're following us and I didn't want to lead them to you but we couldn't run away they were too fast-"

"My child, please calm down, it's okay, we will protect you." Asgore wraps Frisk in a tight hug.

Just then, the group could here rustling in the brush. More monsters had joined by then and they all stood in defense, pushing the children behind them. Asgore and Toriel stood in front, king and queen standing with their people.

Slowly, a figure started to emerge. They pointed their bow at the monsters, but seeing they were outnumbered refused to shoot. They were silent as more people came to join them. Still, the monsters outnumber them.

A large man made his way to the front of the group of humans. Chara felt Frisk freeze beside them, and Chara took their hand. They whispered, "What's wrong?"

"T-That man, I-I, he's..." they took a deep breath. "He's my father."

The large man speaks. "Monsters, we are here as a declaration of war."
