Chapter 13: Shots Fired

        "Are we ready to go now? We've waited long enough!" Lucy exclaims, tapping her foot impatiently as Natsu and Gray spew insults at each other. You groan, then start walking away. Lucy notices you leaving them behind, and she quickly catches up to you. Wendy runs after you.

"Wait, what about-" Wendy tries to say.

"Wait for us!" Both Gray and Natsu shout, scrambling to catch up. You smile slightly. If only moments like this could happen more and last longer. But alas, once they found their comrade Erza, you would be left behind. Like always.

"Welcome to the city that never sleeps," You say, watching as they stared up at the skyscrapers in awe. "Pretty neat, huh?"

"This is incredible! I didn't know buildings as big as these even existed!" Lucy exclaimed, her eyes alight as she took in the sights.

"Yeah, this is great and all, but we came here for one purpose. To find Erza. So you know your way around this place, right?" Gray asked, looking at you. "Any idea where Erza might be?"

You thought for a long moment. "I haven't a clue." Gray deadpanned, and Natsu sighed. "So now what? Do you even know if she's here or not?" Natsu asks, walking beside Wendy and Lucy as you roamed the streets. You hesitate for a second. "I'm... If she was here..." You trail off, lost in thought.

Is it possible that that rumor is true? It isn't much to go on.. but it couldn't hurt to check it out I guess..

"I have an idea as to where she could be... So it's worth a shot to check it out. We'll have to find a way to sneak onto the tour boat and-"

"Excuse me, miss. Are you by any chance... Oh my..." You spin around as someone puts their hand on your shoulder. "(Y/n)... (L/n)....." You didn't recognize the lady in front of you now, but you could only assume she had figured out you were the kidnapped, and the people you were with were the kidnappers.

"I-I'll call the police! Wait, don't run! Stop!" She continued shouting, causing even more people to recognize you. You muttered angry curses under your breath as people began snapping pictures and dialing the police.

"We've got to get out of here!" Natsu yells over the crowd, pushing his way through the crowd. Lucy grabs Happy; the crowd would be in an uproar if they saw a blue cat fly. Wendy grabs Lucy's hand, letting Lucy help her keep up with you and Natsu. Gray glances behind his shoulder, seeing that none of the pedestrians had tried to follow you. Although, distant sirens could be heard.

"Follow me!" You pull in front of Natsu, pulling your hand from his grasp so you could run faster. "This way!" You take a sharp turn into an alley, not having a clue where you were going. "We need to find a place to hide or something... Duck!" You push Natsu against the alley wall behind a dumpster as the others crammed themselves in beside both of you. You listened as the sound of footsteps grew closer, closer... and then distant. You let out a breath of air, not realizing you had been holding your breath.

"Wait... Where's Wendy?" Gray asked once everyone had stood up again. It was true. The blue haired girl was no where to be seen. "Lucy, I thought you had her!" Natsu exclaimed, looking around. "I did! She let go at some point before we went into the alley - I thought she was behind me!" Lucy said defensively. You rub your temples.

"Just.. shut up for a moment! We don't know what happened to Wendy, but if what I'm thinking is true, and she was captured... she might be where Erza is." Natsu's eyes widen as Gray straightens his back. Happy squirms out of Lucy's grip and sits on your shoulder. "I don't want Lucy to lose me either," He said as he climbed into your arms. "Shut it cat!" Lucy said, a tick mark appearing on her head.

"Where do we need to go to get them back?" Gray asks you. "First off, we don't even know if they have Wendy. So we need to look around to see if we can find her," You say, walking cautiously to the entrance of the alleyway. You poke your head around the corner, immediately yanking it back and pressing yourself flat against the grimy wall. The street was crawling with S.W.A.T. team members and police officers. It was a miracle that they hadn't discovered your obvious hiding spot already.
