Chapter 21: Vivid Dreams

"I'm sooooooo screwed, aren't I?" You mutter to yourself. Already you had been searching for nearly two whole hours; that damn key. Where could it be?

"Dammit! Damn this stupid key, damn this world, damn-"

"(Y/n), calm down. We're going to find your key. And then we will lock it up where it can be safe from prying hands," Loke said, sounding extremely frustrated. You didn't blame him.

"Loke? What happens if someone already found my key? What if they summon me and ask to make a contract? I'm not sure how-"

"Shhhh," he said, putting a finger over your mouth. "That won't happen. We'll find it before then," he said confidently. You only nod.

"Why is it so important that I don't have a contract with anyone?" You ask Loke.

"Well, mainly because you don't really know how anything works right now. No offense or anything," he said.

"That's the truest thing I've heard all day.." you mutter. "Can we continue searching tomorrow? I-" you yawn loudly. "I'm really tired," you admit. A lot had happened today. Honestly, you would kill to go back to a normal life with a normal family. But at the same time, you could never go back to living that way. Not with everything that's happened.

"I guess so... it is starting to get late..." Loke said, not sounding very happy to give up searching.

You yawn once more, struggling to keep your eyes open. You feel the signature icy cold blast you for the smallest moment before you're back in the spirit world.

"In going to sleep," you say as you walk up the stairs. "Goodnight!" You call before disappearing into your room. You quickly change into some more comfortable clothes, then go gratefully into the bed. You close your eyes.

You loved sleep. It was the only way to escape the reality of life. Anything was possible in dreams, unlike life. You smile softly. Maybe the only way you could have Natsu was in your dreams. You drift into slumber.

Your eyes fly open when you feel freezing air wash over you.

"What the-"

You fall ungracefully onto a hard floor, your back slamming against the ground.

"Hell?!"

"Hello there!" You look up. A person about your age was standing above you, offering a hand to you.

"Where am I?" You ask with uncertainty.

"I summoned you here. With this key I found on the ground... it's a celestial key, correct me if I'm wrong," he said. You take his hand and he pulls you up.

"I see... well... I uh... I'm not allowed to form a contract..." you say quietly, feeling sort of... embarrassed?

"My name is Kuro. What's yours?" He said. Did he not just hear what you said?

"I'm... (Y/n).." you reply.

"Nice to meet you! Wow, my first celestial spirit is pretty hot! Are you all like this?" He asks, excitement visible in his eyes.

"I don't... I can't do-"

"Of course! Guess I'll have to find out for myself. So you know how to form a contract, right? Since I found your key, you have to form a contract with me!" He exclaimed. You looked at him with skeptical eyes.

I don't think that's how it works... but what do I know? Loke never explained to me how any of this works....

"Yeah..." you reply slowly. His eyes brighten.
