5 Days Remain

When you crack your eyes open, it was dark, stuffy and hot. A single drop of sweat rolled down your temple, providing a second of momentary relief to the single spot at the trail of coolness it left. It only takes you about a minute to realize the cause of the hot atmosphere. You were completely under the sheets and thick blanket of the bed. On top of that, Natsu still had his arms pinning you against himself. The way he was holding you might make one think you were his teddy bear or something. You frown, struggling to pry his arms away from you and breathe in fresh air that was above the sheets.

You sit in the silence of the early morning, staring bleary eyed at a window covered by a neutral green colored curtain. Through the tiny crevice between where the curtains met, a small beam of sunlight was forcing its way through, illuminating a small patch on the bed. You finally pry your eyes from the mesmerizing sight to look at the cheap digital clock on a bedside table. It read 7:07.

You reluctantly leave the now much more comfortable covers of the cozy bed and rise to the restroom, staring at the mirror that covered half of a wall. Your (h/c) hair was a mess, showing it had had a wild time while your body rested. You yawn, trying to tame the knotted hair with your hands, then eventually giving up. After debating mentally for a moment, you finally just pull the strands into high pony tail, forcing yourself to ignore the lose strands that stubbornly refused to be trapped within the hairband and waved around your face tauntingly. You step out, seeing Natsu was still asleep.

You ponder a few different methods of waking a person up, finally just deciding to jump on him similar to how a small child might jump onto their parents on Christmas morning. You leap into him, laughing as he groaned and rolled over. You poke his cheek.

"Get up. We gotta search for the others and stuff," you say. You stare at his hair, noticing with wonder the bedhead he had. It made him look even more adorable. You resist the sudden urge to run your fingers through his messy pink hair, and instead get off of him and pull the curtains open. Morning light streamed through the now uncovered window, screaming at everything it touched to wake up and face another day. For such a normal morning, it seemed strange to think that the world could possibly end in five days.

As you stare out the window, a sudden thought crosses your mind. "You said the others are in New York, right?" You ask, not waiting for a response. "Then where are we? I didn't even think to ask anyone what state we were in.." you voice.

You turn your head to look back at Natsu, seeing he had at least gotten out of bed and was mulling around with no particular destination in mind.

"Stop wasting time and get ready dork," you say teasingly.

"Yeah yeah.... calm yourself woman..." he muttered, gathering the minuscule amount of belongings he owned. You really didn't have anything to keep up with other than your gate key and Natsu.

In other words, you had your hands full.

After another five minutes, you somehow managed the feat of actually leaving the motel without paying. Really the people from Fairy Tail were a bad influence. The old you would've never hi-jacked cars or shoplifted or not paid for something or lied. On the other hand, meeting them definitely had its perks. You had a new family now, and you got to meet Natsu, and so on.

It was mid morning now, still early enough for the dew to grace the dead and dying grass with its presence. Despite the blaring sunlight, it was actually freezing outside. You were no weather expert, but even you knew that a cold front must've moved in last night.
