As a casual over thinker, Hannah was panning out all sorts of ways the night would go. But this never crossed her mind, not even the slightest.
----
It was 06:30pm and Hannah was sitting at the table, waiting for her date to arrive.
"Maybe Mamrie was right, what am I doing here? I can't sit through this whole date acting like I'm totally fine....Oh crap!, It is a date. I need to leave"
Just as Hannah got up to leave, her heart dropped as she saw her date walk through the door.
"God damn. She looks beautiful...Snap out of it! What's your plan here, Hart? Come on, sort yourself out. Do I stand up as she comes over? Do I hug her? Does this bathroom have a window? Any window. I'm a small gal, I can fit through a small one"
"Hey, Hannah"
"Stand up you idiot. That's just called being polite. On the other hand, she wasn't so poli....just stand up". Hannah stood up and went in for a hug.
"Sorry I'm late"
"Oh no, I was early"
"You always were"
"Yeah" Hannah let out a giggling sigh, looking down.
----
It was an hour into the date and it was going to much better than Hannah had expected.
"This is going to well" Hannah thought "But I'm really desperate to know. Will this ruin the date? Fuck it, it'll just eat up at me the whole night"
"Em"
"Yeah"
"Can I ask you a question without it getting weird?"
"Sure"
"Are you and Sharon..."
"We broke up"
"Oh"
"After we broke up and you left, I tried to love her but with you gone, I just couldn't feel that anymore"
"Emily" Hannah looked down in guilt.
"You don't have to say anything, I know I've blown it between us"
"No. No. It's not that. It's just...I'm so glad we did this. I think it was something that needed to happen for both are sake"
Hannah reached out to hold her hand and they talked about the good memories.
Then the unthinkable happened.
"Hannah"
Hannah looked up to find Grace, she looked stunning but quite obviously about to pass out, throw up, or both.
"Grace!....what? What? What?" Hannah was looking back and forth between the two girls. She removed her hand from her date's and brushed them on her jeans.
"We need to talk"
"Who's this?"
"Oh sorry, Grace, this is Em....Emily. And Emily, Grace"
"Hannah, is she your girlfriend?"
"What? No"
"Then why have you gone so pail it looks like you are going to faint"
"I...I...I...I haven't" She turned to Grace to stop the conversation with Emily. "I'm kinda in the middle of something here, Grace. Can it wait?" She was begging for her to say no. Although the date was going well, it was Grace she wanted sitting opisit her and their hands to interwhind.
"No"
"Thank god" Hannahs thought burst through her mouth. She shook her head and acted like that didn't happen.
"Excuse me" She turned to her date. "
----
Emily was sitting at the table, watching the to girls, get closer and closer as the conversation went on. She eventually dicided to leave, knowing that she was to late for Hannah to ever love her like she did again.
