A/N: Oh, look she finally updated! It's not like I thought she was dead or anything! First of all, sorry. No excuses from me this time other than school work and sorry school comes before fanfiction. I also went through a period of uncreativity and I only got it back because some of my friends forced me to do creative things to kickstart it. Don't expact another chapter anytime soon as exam block is coming up and life's thrown shit at me again and I kind of have to get my head together and find motivation once more. Secondaly, thankyou to everyone who hasn't given up on this story and me. In finality, I love you all. I have an amazing following who is supportive and lovely. So if you want to join that lovely crew give me a follow. I was literally amazed when I reached 100 ad now that I've surpassed it I'm kind of in awe at all my followers, because why would anyone want to follow me. I find it kind of amazing. So thank you all of you, I love you guys.
Rose who is a massive failure out *saultes like a dork*
Things drifted back to 'normal'. I spent my afternoons and lunchtimes with the host club. I helped Kyoya with the finances, directed girls to tables and managed the website. The Ouran fair was fast approaching so Kyoya and I were on the edge, searching high and low for resources and sourcing the best china and tea for the two-day event. Planning had started and as usual Tamaki was going overboard with theatrical and extravagant ideas which, evidently, Kyoya and I would somehow have to make possible.
No matter how cold and heartless I was on the inside, I never let the facade I'd slipped into break. The host club was at ease around me and no one suspected that I was a puppet waiting to be moved about b a puppeteer once more. I was itching to get back on missions, waiting impatiently for the days to end. Before we all knew it the Ouran Fair had arrived. Kyoya and I were throwing last minute plans and changes together, hoping that we'd get everything done in time.
I stood in front of my mirror staring at myself. It's not that I thought I was ugly; I was just dissatisfied with how my hair looked. My hair was no longer the vibrant pink it'd been when I'd first seen the host club, it'd now faded into a pastel colour. It was still pretty but my blonde roots were starting to show signalling that I needed to get it redone or change it up entirely. Sighing I turned away from the mirror knowing I'd have to do something about it before the fair tomorrow.
"Mum!" I called out as I walked around the house, god I hoped no one was here. Thankfully no one was as I soon Heard he call out in reply signalling where she was. Sure I could have just asked one of the surprisingly few staff that floated around that halls but this was more personal. I made my way to the room she was in and stuck my head in the door. "I need my hair redyed do we know anyone who could do it on such short notice?" I asked her.
"Hmm, I think I know someone," She replied standing from where she was sitting and walking past me ruffling my hair as she went. "Darlene?" She called out, obviously to one of our staff. A fuller figured, but still healthy middle aged woman made her way over my mother.
"Yes, Ma'am?" She asked in a respectful manner.
"Would you be able to dye my daughter's hair, you used to work at a hairdresser if I remember correctly for your application here?" My mother asked giving the woman just as much respect as she had given her. Darlene seemed surprised that my other had even read and remember that she used to work at a hairdresser.
"Yes, Ma'am, I'm sure I'd be able to fulfil your daughters wishes if she'd like me too," Darlene answered happily, it seemed that she must have loved working as a hairdresser. I began to wonder why that career path had not worked out for her.
"I would very much appreciate it," I decided to say before beckoning the woman to follow me.
*time skip*
Staring at myself in the mirror once more I was now satisfied with how I looked. My freshly dyed dark blonde hair was a change but I felt that I'd out grown the pink, I was no longer a child, I grew up. A mature hair colour, for a mature near adult.
Today was the day. The day I'd spent my sleepless nights with planning and researching for. I straightened the baby blue skirt of my dress, my thumb brushing against the black embroidery that decorated the hem of the skirt before flattening the black trimmed cream peter pan collar of the pleated bodice. Before setting about on softly curling my hair and slipping a headband in. I then preceded to paint over my face with makeup. I went with simple light coloured tones on my eyelids before finishing the look with pale pink lipstick. My painted baby blue fingers with a glitter gold statement nail on each fiddled the gold teapot charm that hung off my neck from a chain.
Was I nervous? I thought as I pulled on my black and cream heeled oxfords. I probably was but my mind seemed as calm as ever.
I could help feeling as though I was Alice falling down a rabbit hole as I walked through the school gates after being dropped off in a limo. I walked to the central Saloon where we'd set the host club up for the event. I saw the twins longing in one booth talking to each other, Kyoya was still setting up tables and the other were nowhere to be seen. I was early so I expected no less.
The twins payed no attention to me as I made my way over to Kyoya. "Anything I can help you with?" I asked the black haired boy as he straightened the table cloth muttering to himself how if you want it done right you have to do it yourself. Stopping his grumbling he looked up at me his eyes widening slightly in surprise as he noticed my changed hair colour.
"Wow," He whispered before catching himself and recomposing. "I see you've change your hair Iris and I don't think there's much left to do. You know what you'd be doing today right?" He asked looking as if he wanted to say something more but was highly aware of the fact that we weren't the only two in the room.
"I am very aware Mr Ootori, remember I was the one who decided what I was going to do," I told him. HE seemed to be affect by how I looked. Had it really changed my appearance all that much.
"Kyoya who's this wonderful princess you're talking to?" Tamaki called out from across the room. I had to stop myself from gagging. Why did I even bother with these people, Kyoya, Hani and Mori where the only ones who were rational. I still could not form an opinion of Haruhi as I barely knew the girl.
"Tamaki it's me," I deadpanned as I turned to look at him. Tamaki stopped where he was staring between my face and my changed hair.
"Iris you look so, so different," He stuttered seeming to have his mind blown. Sighing I walked over to him and hit his head lightly.
"Get to work idiot, it's your club," I told him before I started busying myself with checking that we had everything we needed and that the website was advertising for today.
