"Say cheese!"

The camera flashed as my cousin snapped a picture for the 1000th time.  My high heels we're too damn high so I wasn't in the mood for it.

"Alright, that's enough. I'm gonna be both blind and late if y'all keep this up." I was getting irritated real quick and I wanted to get it over with.

Damn Samoans and they're need to have 'more than enough'! It's just GRADUATION!

"She's right. Let's go now." My dads voice boomed, though his eyes were filled with amusement. I wanted to kick him.

I stomped my heels to the old Suburban outside. Dad laughed as he started the car.

"It's not funny, " I frowned clicking in my seat belt.

"Whatever you say. Today's your day so have it as you will," he smirked.

I scrunched my nose in annoyance.

Sia's grungy voice drifted between us as we drove.

"Has Cam ever spoken to any of you?" He sounded nervous.

I cocked my head to the side,"No, why?"

He only shook his head.

Then it came to me.

"Lemme guess. She hasn't spoken to her parents and they asked you to get some answers outta me?"

He sighed.

"I knew it."

That girl, I swear. She has the power to make her whole family worry. I hesitated before asking.

"Do you think she'll show up today? Ya know...  what with her singing the National Anthem?"

He tilted his head, "Did she promise?"

I nodded,  remembering her conversation with the principal a while back.

"Then, of course she will. When has she ever broken a promise before?" He confirmed.

I wanted to believe him so bad, but he didn't know how much Cam changed since her aunt died.

"Yeah, she will." I told myself.

We pulled into the gates of the school. Red, gold, and white robes seemed to be everywhere. I hopped out the car, trying my best to balance on the damn heels.

S***! How'd I let them talk me into wearing these?!

"Have fun, kiddo. I'll see you out there in a few hours," he smiled.

"Yeah, yeah," I waved as he drove away.

I turned and started making my way through the school. Everywhere I looked, people were hugging and crying like it would be the last time they were ever gonna see each other.

I rolled my eyes.

Oh, get over yourselves! We still got Grad night you imbeciles!

The damn heels we're killing my feet already and graduation didn't even start yet. I gritted my teeth, looking down at them maliciously. Six inches of hell. A sad feeling rushed me, they reminded me of Cam. It took me back to the time she almost ate s*** in a wedding line walking down the aisle. It had been her first time wearing heels.

"High heels?! They should've been called high HELLS instead! Damn it!" she yelped.

I smiled a little. I missed the old days. Where it would just be me, her, and Tyler. When we would sing along very off-key to a BTS song and failing miserably at the raps, or hilariously try to learn one of their dances. Tyler was the worst of us 3 because she was so stiff.

That idiot. Cam would call her.

"Hey, idiot. You trynna run me over before I perform?" Hands grabbed me by my shoulders, halting me completely.

I froze.

That voice. Why did it sound so familiar?

I looked at the hands on my shoulders. Chubby fingers with well- manicured but simple nails, hairless arms, broad shoulders and-

"Oh s***! Cam?!" I jumped back.

No freaking way.

"In the flesh." she smirked, sliding her shades and mask off.

I didn't believe her. It couldn't be. It's been 5 months since I last saw her in person. So, of course I was gonn' test her.

"Say something only Cam would say," I whispered.

She looked amused, "What-"

"Just say it!" I had to know I wasn't hallucinating.

She bit her lip to muffle a laugh, "Hhhheeeerrreeeee birdy,  birdy, birdy,  birdaaaayyyy! Birdaaaa-"

I jumped on her, nearly knocking us both on the ground, cutting off the last part, "Holy s***! You CAME! Where the hell you been? Why haven't you answered my calls? Or your parents? Or Ty's? What you been up to? Are you okay? Why aren't you answering me?!"

"Well I'd love to answer you... If you'd stop choking me first!" she wheezed.

Whoops. I stepped back a little, still holding her by the shoulders. She took in a huge breath, like it was the last bit of oxygen left.

I rolled my eyes.

"Oh, don't be so over dramatic."

Her eyes bulged at me, "Over dramatic?! Are you forgetting you have MAN HANDS?!"

I paused.

"Oh. Right."

It was her turn to roll her eyes, "Jeez."

I crossed my arms,"Don't matter. You deserve it after ignoring us for 5 months."

She rubbed her neck,"No one deserves to be MAN HANDLED!"

"But did you DIE?" I exaggerated, posing with one hand on my hip and the other flaunted conceitedly.

She chuckled, shaking her head.

"Still as pabo as ever, I see."

I flipped my long curles behind my shoulder,"It takes one to know one."

Another eye roll, "Ha. Yeah, right."

I smiled, "Nahh, for real though. How've you been?"

She smiled, but there was no humor in it. Just pure sadness.

"I'm getting there, I guess."

She looked uncomfortable, so I tried shifting the conversation.

"So, any secret boyfriends I should know about? Ya know, what with you being a HUGE celeb now?"

She laughed, hooking her arm through mine and dragging me towards the gym, "The s*** that goes through your head, I swear."

"What?" I asked innocently.

"Mmmm, let's go before you make us both late you pabo."

I smiled at her, cherishing this moment. 'Cause knowing her, she might stop talking completely later on.
