Tikki and Plagg both quietly hid under the coffee table to watch in horror as Marinette and Adrien continued to raise their voices. The argument had begun the other night when Adrien nearly ruined their chances of capturing another akuma. Ladybug, with a clear plan in mind, jumped from the top of the Eiffel Tower in order to swiftly dive down to purify a dark akuma that fluttered towards the ground. Chat Noir, stubborn and paranoid as always, quickly reached for the superheroine's wrist to grab her and keep her from falling. Because of his "rescue", the crime-fighting team spent the rest of the night purifying the hundreds of akumas that has multiplied themselves. Of course, Chat Noir only wanted to keep his lady safe. What he should have known, though, was that Ladybug still had not used her lucky charm, which was what she planned to do.
Adrien had his arms rested across his chest before moving them to his hips. "Well, sor-ry if I don't like seeing my wife risk her life every single day! You need to be more careful!"
"Risking our lives is sort of in the job description, Adrien! Plus, I can take care of myself!" Marinette, clearly frustrated, threw her arms around in the air after a dramatic eye roll.
"If that was true, I wouldn't need a miraculous, now would I?" Adrien assumed that he would be muttering inaudibly under his breath, but Marinette picked up on every single word.
With her face red with anger, Marinette raised her voice even louder (if that was even possible), causing the kwamis to flinch. "You know what? You've crossed the line, Agreste. Why don't you just take whatever belongs to you and just get out?"
At first, Adrien's jaw dropped with shock. He had never seen Mari so angry and hurt before. Granted, she technically did not need Chat Noir to battle akumas. However, there was some truth behind Adrien's statement. Ladybug was perfectly capable of fighting the villains, luring out the akumas, and purifying the butterflies by herself. However, she had a tendency of not taking her own well-being into consideration.
After giving Marinette's response a bit of careful though, a brilliant, or idiotic, idea had popped into Adrien's mind. An obvious smirk crept up on his face as he remained completely calm. "I think I'll do just that."
Without further hesitation, the blond rushed over to the dark-haired girl. He swiftly picked her up before gently throwing her over his shoulder. Marinette used her fists to smack Adrien's back, demanding to be put down. "Just what do you think you're doing?!"
Adrien shrugged with his wife still on his shoulder. "I'm only doing exactly what you told me to do: leave with whatever belongs to me. That just so happens to be you, Mrs. Agreste, whether you like it or not."
Marinette paused for a moment before she realized what was happening. She couldn't resist an irritated grin. "You're such a pest."
Adrien swung Marinette from his shoulder to carry her bridal-style. "But I'm your pest." The couple giggled before the two made up with a kiss.
