Why? - Chapter 17

The doctors voice keeps replaying in my mind. Needing an ultrasound is defiantly something i wouldn't think i needed. I'm at home now, and mum won't leave me alone. I just want to be left alone. I need sleep. I'm still tired and I am extremely sore.

"Summer, what is so wrong about spending time with your family? You're always in your room!"

"Mum, please, I just want to sleep."

She sighs and waves me off. I slowly walk up the stairs, careful not to show pain. I reach my room and close the door behind me. A folded pile of clothes are neatly seated on the end of my bed. I grab the clothes and place them on the end of my desk. I change into loose pants, and lay in my bed. As soon as my head hits the pillow, I begin to feel drowsy. Before i know it, my eyes are closing and I'm falling asleep.

3 Hours Later

I wake up with someone next to me on my bed. I jump, worried and scared of who it might be. I know Jake will be looking for me.

"Calm down Summer, It's only me"

Ben looks down at me and giggles a little. I sigh deeply and relax a little. My body is still sore, so i turn my body very slowly. I face Ben and punch his stomach softly.

"You scared the hell out of me!"

He laughs and grabs my hand.

"How are you feeling?"

"Good. Just sore."

He nods his head and kisses my hand. I love it when he's like this. When we were living in Australia, he was always like this. Even in front of our friends. Which i loved.

"Would you believe that I'm still tired?"

"I would actually"

We both laugh and I try not to laugh so much because it hurts when I do. I grab my stomach in pain and stop laughing.

"Sorry! I didn't mean to make you laugh so hard"

"It's fine. I just forgot how much it hurts to laugh. I haven't had a good laugh since I moved here."

It went silent for a minute before Ben spoke up.

"I'm sorry that all of this happened to you. I didn't think that Jake was like that. He always seemed to be the nice guy."

"It's fine, really. You weren't to know."

I look down and frown. Why me? I don't understand. Out of everyone in the school, he went for me.

"I think I'll stay home from school for a while. But the bad thing is, he knows where I live. I need to leave home for a bit, but I don't know what to tell mum."

Looks looks at the wall with one of those thinking faces on.

"Why don't we tell her that there is a camp coming up, and we can print out a permission from out for her to sign."

"That's actually a really good idea. But where would I go?"

"You can stay at my house."

"And how long will this 'camp' go for?"

"We'll say a week, don't want to make it look suspicious."

"I love how your mind works sometimes"

He smiles down at me and leans down and kisses my lips. I've actually missed this. It seems like forever when he's lips were on mine, but it has only been a few hours.

Our lips left each other and I smile. I open my eyes and I see him smiling as well. Today has been pretty good. Well since I woke up that is. I just want things to go back to being simple. Not complicated where I'm in pain, or there's no one looking for me or after me. I just life to go back to normal.
