Why?

Why?- Chapter 8

Ben was walking into the cinema with another girl. I know he ended things with me, but I still like him. I look away before he looks at me. The lights in the cinema were getting dimmer and the ads before the movie. I don't like it when they play the ads before the movie came on. They're boring and i fel like sleeping when they're on. I sit straighter in my chair and yawn. It's only six and I'm already yawning. What is with me? When i get home, i'll have to skype the girls and tell them about today. They were there when Ben ended things between us. It wasn't pretty. I got home and cried my eyes out. When he told me he was moving, my world collapsed. Literally.

The movie is finally starting and I try to get comfortable. These chairs are more comfortable then the ones back in Australia. I'm glad to have these comfortable seats. I can fall asleep anytime I wany through the movie. I can never last for a whole movie. I don't know why. I just can't.

As the movie was playing, I can't help but loook over at Ben and his date. I've never seen her before and she looks younger then him. About 16 years old. She is probably just his little sister orsomething. Wait... He doesn't have a little sister. Not only am I starting to feel a bit jelouse, I am also very curious. Who is this girl?

I try to concentrate on the movie but i can't. My mind keeps going back and forth. I know he is over us and everything, but there are still feeling for him that i can't quite reach. A year with out seeing or hearing from him, is a bit difficult for me to cope with. He doesn't know the pain I went through to get over the fact that he was serious aboout ending things. For the second time, i look up at the screen and concentrate on the movie...

                                                                    3 Hours Later...

The movie is finished now and i am so tired. Ben still doesn't know I was in the cinema. Jake and I are now on our way back to my house. I have to say, the movie was good. I actually enjoyed it. I knew I would, but I enjoyed it more then I shold have. 

We are half way home, and I'm starting to get cold. I didn't bring a jacket either. Stupid me. I cross my arms over my chest and sigh.

"You cold?"

"Just a little. I'm ok though." 

"You sure?"

I just nodded and kept on walking. We are now in front of my house and I turned around to look at Jake. 

"Thank you for tonight. I had a good time."

"That's ok. Maybe we can do this another time?" 

"Yeah. Sure."

"Ok. Well, I'll see you tomorrow."

 I nodded and  headed for the door. Just before I opened the door, I heard my name be called from inside. I ran inside and walked in the lounge room. Mum, Bree and Dad were standing next to the couch facing my direction. This could only mean one thing. They found Ellie.

"What's going on?"

"Why didn't you tell us?"

"About what? I'm sorry, but I'm confused."

They move out of their huddling position and Ben came into view. I gasp. 

"Ben. What are you doing here?"

"I wanted to talk to you. But you weren't home yet."

"Well, I'm home now. Did you want to go up to my room? Or outside, after I get a jacket of course?"

"Uh, yeah sure. Your room will do." 

I nod. He follows me up the stairs. 

"Excuse the mess. I'm not normally this messy..."

"I know. What happened to the clean Summer?"

"I don't know. I guess I went down hill a bit..." 

"Me to actually.." 

Oh God... This is so awkward. 

"Um, so what did you want to talk about?"

"Oh, um, I wanted to talk about us actually. I wanted to clarify things. I can tell your still a bit confused."

I just nod. This is way to confusing for me. 

"So, first I wanted to talk about how you felt when left."

"Oh... I was shattered. I cried for months. Ask my friends back in Australia. They were there for me for the whole thing..." 

"I am truely sorry Summer. I didn't mean to hurt you. I had to end things becasue i don't like long-distance realtionships. You know that. You know I would never hurt you on purpose. You are the one person i would never hurt on purpose." 

I just nodded. I can't do anything else. This boy sitting on my bed next to me used to mean everything to me. He stil does. I have never lost my feelings for him. He doesn't understand how much i was hurting when he left. I think he can see it on my face. I cant help but get a bit teary from this. 

"Please don't cry. You haven't heard what I've been through. Please, just hear me out ok?"

Once again, i nodded...
