Ava's past

Clouds hang offer the sky In a unsettling way, today two girls attend a funeral "Katie why are mommy and daddy sleeping in those boxes?" Kate looks down at her sister tears hanging from her eyes on the edge of falling down her face. "Mom and dad have to go away for a while Ava." "When will they be back?" Kate kneels down to be eye level with her sister tears flowing from her red puffy eyes. "Not for a long time A" Ava not wanting her parents to leave her runs out of the isle and to her parents coffins. "Mommy! Daddy! Wake up!! You can't leave! You can't!" She then bangs on the coffins shouting for her parents not to leave.

All those in the church stare at the six year old only sobbing more at the sight of the child. "Ava!! Stop that!" Kate cries as she runs to pull her sister from their mothers coffin. " why won't they wake up!!" Ava shouts as her sister holds her away from the coffins. In the back of the church a man stands dressed in black, an eye late he covering his left eye unnoticed by all in attendance. He watches the two young girls saddened but not showing emotion. He bows his head for a moment then looks back up and leaves before anyone has the chance to notice him.

The two girls are silent as their aunt drives them home not one daring to break the silence. As the car pulls into the driveway of the once happy home there is a car parked outside, unfamiliar to them. "Girls stay in the car a moment" their aunt knowing what the girls parents did for a living. The door slams shut as she gets out. "Katie? What's going on?" Ava asks her sister "i don't know?" Kate replies as she watches her aunt talk to a man and woman on the front lawn of their home.

The aunt soon comes back to the car and ushers the girls out and over to the couple. "Girls these two nice people will be watching you while your parents are gone." Kate looks up to her aunt knowing the couple are meant to take the place of their parents but still confused. "I thought we were staying with you?" Kate asks wanting answers suspicious of the couple. "It seems your parents had pre arranged this." Her aunt says to the girls. "But who are they?" Ava asks innocently " friends of your parents dear." Ava being as young as she is thinks nothing of it but Kate knows that really means who ever her parents worked for sent them.

Over the years the girls had grown close with the couple and Ava came to understand that her parents would never be returning to them. It took longer for her to accept the couple as parents but eventually she called them Mom and dad though it still felt strange.

Once kate turned eleven they put her though training and soon to follow she was going on missions. Ava was soon to follow. Unlike her sister Ava found herself becoming more and more influenced by the missions. One day she was almost too immersed in the job she was sent to complete. One time a man who was to work with her on a mission thought it odd for a girl her age to be doing such dangerous work. He brought her to see the director.

"My parents are gonna wonder where I am this better not take long!" Ava spat at the man wanting to just go home tired from the mission. They enter a room with dozens of people working on computers and running around to get things done. They all stare at her in shock and confusion. "Take a picture it will last longer!!" She shouts and they all turn back to their work. "Why does it sound like a kid is in here??" A man dresses in a black trench coat with an eye patch walks out and looks around. "Well I am thirteen so..." the man sees her and walks over to her and the man next to her.

"Agent, why did you bring a child here?" He asks the man. I liked being called kid better. She thought "she said she was assigned to be on the mission sir." The man said the the guy with the eye patch. "Your dismissed agent." He says to the man that brought her here. He leaves leaving Ava alone with the one who she assumes is the director. "What's your name kid?" He asks her "Ava Thomson sir." She replies "Thomson?" He looks at her with a questioning look. It's silent between the two for a moment before the director speaks up again.

"Follow me I'll take you home." She follows him to a car and he drives off. "My name is nick." He says "that's nice, now how do you know where I live nick?" She asks "your tenn days are coming in strong. Should haves guess one of you would turn out to be a brat." He says with a sigh "excuse me? Just who the hell do you think you are?" Ava asks not liking how he's coming off. "A friend of your parents." "Which ones?" She asks coldly "both. Though not as fond of your current ones." He says.

"Would you look at that we actually have something in common." Ava says rolling her eyes and turning her attention out the window. They soon pull up to Ava's house and nick walks through the door after Ava. "Ava is that you?" She hears her mother yell from the kitchen "yea it's her and me" nick shouts down the hall. Her parents come out to greet nick with surprise and suspicion written on their faces. "Ava go pack a bag and tell your sister to do the same. I have to talk to these two for a moment." Ava could tell he meant business and didn't even try to protest.

For the past three years Ava and her sister have been staying in shields protection or better put nicks protection. Ava would only go on special missions under nicks orders and his attempted to give her a normal life. At first he wanted her to stop all together but she kept speaking on to jets and boats and participate in missions anyway. Her missions were never outside of California so her mission time was VERY limited. Eventually she got used to it and found hobbies and friends and became somewhat normal. But the agent in her stayed ready to go at a moments notice. The two girls kept in touch with the woman who was assigned to replace their mom after nick fired her and the man. All was well until Ava was assigned to protect her sister on a mission.

Ava wakes up in a hospital bed not sure which hospital but it doesn't look like a normal one. Must be a shield hospital. She thought kate comes in not realizing Ava is awake at first "your welcome by the way" Ava says starting her sister "Ava! Your awake!" She says running over to her younger sister "ok your way to happy about this... how long was I out?" Ava asks confused "six months...."
