Shield compromised

(Ava's pov)

"Why was Fury at your apartment?" Natasha asks Steve. "I don't know." he answers. Before anyone can say anything else a group of shield agents dresses in black approach us. "Captain...." one of them says grabbing all of our attention. "Yeah." " they want you back at H.Q." He answers "yeah give me a second." Steve answers. Before Steve gets the chance to turn around an resume his conversation the man says "they want you now." "ok." he replies. He turns back to Natasha "your a terrible liar." she says to him then walks off. "I'll follow her. go." I say then leave Steve to go after Natasha.

When I reach Natasha I say "did you see the flash drive Steve hid?" "Yeah." She answers. " Let's snag it and wait for him. I have feeling he's gonna need it if he wants to find the winter soldier." I say. We snag the flash drive and wait for Steve to come looking for it.

" how do you know about the winter soldier?" She asks. " I had the 'pleasure' of meeting him five years ago. He's the reason I left shield." I answer. "You were part of shield?" She asks like she doesn't believe me. "Yup up until I was sixteen. The winter soldier is just one of the reasons I left." I answer "was nick one of those reasons?" She asks "no. Nick was like a father to me." I say.

It's silent for the remainder of the time that we wait for Steve to show up. When he arrives he's got a hoodie on like he's trying to his his face. When I notice this I realize that means shield has been compromised. He walks up to the vending machine to see the flash drive is missing. The two of us then walk up from behind him chewing gum. He turns around and pushes the two of us into the room behind us.

Once the two of us hit the wall the takes off his hood and asks us "where is it?" "Safe." we answer. " Do better." he says starting to get mad. "Where did you get it?" Natasha asks. "Why would I tell you?" "Fury gave to you." I say "why?" Natasha asks. "What's on it?" He asks "I don't know." she answers. "Stop lying." he says definitely angry. "i only act like I know everything Rogers." she replies.

"I bet you knew Fury hired the pirates didn't you?" Steve says. guess there talking about the mission they went on. "I makes sense. The ship was dirty Fury needed a way in so did you." she answers. "I'm not going to ask you again." Steve says forcefully "we know who killed Furry." I say. Steve turns to me "most of the people in the intelligence community don't believe he exists. The ones that do call him the winter soldier." Natasha says. "He's credited with over two dozen assassinations in the last fifty years." I add. "So he's a ghost story." Steve says "five years ago my sister and I were put on a mission together. my sister had just become part of the important people in shield. The winter soldier 'met up with us'. He went to shoot her and I blocked his shot causing myself to get shot instead. That one shot hit me in just the right spot. I was in a coma for two months..... that's when I quit shield." I say.

" Five years ago I was escorting a nuclear engineer out of Iran somebody shot out my tires near Odessa, we last control, went over a cliff. I pulled us out. but the winter soldier was there, I was covering my engineer so he shot him right through me." Natasha says we both then show Steve our scars.

"Going after him is a dead end. I know I've tried." Natasha says. "Like you said he's just a ghost story." I say now holding the flash drive in front of him. He takes the flash drive then says " let's find out what the ghost wants.".
