After last night, I was so excited that I couldn't sleep.
I stayed up till midnight watching YouTube.
I woke up this morning with an emotion I haven't felt in a while.
Love.
I dressed a little better than normal, I slid on a fifty-style dress that I had made when I was twelve.
It was red with white polka dots.
My phone chimed. A new message from Kian.
It read:
"I'm coming over in 5.😝"
I sat in my red bean bag and waited for him to come through the window.
Thump.
"Kian?" I turned and found him sprawled out on the floor. I stood.
"I really am getting too tall for this." He laughed and pushed himself up.
"Nice dress." He playfully swished the bottom of it around.
"Haha stop it." I tried to grab his hands but they were moving two fast.
"Kian!" I giggled harder.
He looked up at me, smiling idiotically.
"Come on, lets go."
I picked up my bag and we walked out of the house.
We hopped into his car.
"Wait where are we even going?" I asked.
"I don't know. Wherever you want." I smirked.
"Lets go to DisneyLand."
"Seriously?" He asked me. I nodded excitedly.
"Lets go."

"Oh my gosh! I love this place so much!" I squealed.
"Perfect best friend 'date' huh?" he joked.
We looked into each others eyes for a second too long before his eyes wandered away.
We continued walking.
"Oh we should go on that water rafting ride!" He suggested.
"I can't. Not in this dress." I sighed.
"You can go on a roller coaster though, right?" I made a face.
"You know I don't like roller coasters..."
"Come on! You wanted to come here! Besides, I'll be there. I'll protect you."
"Ugh fine." We waited on line for Mt. Everest.
We finally got into the cars.
Kian hopped into a car and I slid next to him.
We buckled in and he got all ten-year-old on me.
"I haven't been here in forever!" He smiled brightly and I laughed at his silliness.
We slowly climbed to the top.
The car thrust downwards and I grabbed Kians hand.
"Woo Hoo!!" He screamed.
He threw his hands up in the air, letting go of mine.
I gripped the handle bar tightly.
Why did I agree to this again?
After we conquered the roller coaster, we ran into Minnie Mouse, who was wearing the same dress as me.
We took a bunch of pictures.
We acted like best friends again, which was nice.
But he seemed to have forgotten about our kiss.
He acted like yesterday never happened, like he just picked me up from the airport.
I just wanted to plant the memory in his mind, make him kiss me again.
And it's awkward to talk about that stuff when you're in this situation. I don't want to freak him out.
The day went by quickly and we drove back to my house.
I just couldn't hold it in anymore.
"Kian?" I asked gingerly.
"Yeah?" He looked up from his phone.
I smiled tentatively and blurted out, "So what happened last night?"
He looked back down at his phone, but not to continue playing on it. Kind of to get out of answering.
"Uh..." He trailed off.
I raised my eyebrows, encouraging more. But that was it.
He just stared at his phone, speechless.
"Kian," I said stiffly, a little angry.
His eyes locked with mine and I'm sure his saw I was desperate because he said,
"Look, Carrie. I know I kissed you and now I'm acting weird but," he paused. "I don't know where I wanna go with this. I barely know what I'm doing."
He bit his lip, which distracted me from my anger for a moment.
"Kian, I- I won't just wait around. Either you know you like me or you don't okay?"
I sounded really bitchy but I couldn't help it.
Tears threatened to spill over.
I mean how would you react if your crush kissed you, then he tells you he doesn't know how he feels?
"I'M sorry, but I'm new to all this. It's weird that my best friend has been secretly in love with me for thirteen years!"
A tear escaped and slid down cheek. I tried to wipe it away, but more and more followed.
He slammed the door and fled the house.
I took a pillow and screamed into it.
Boys are so freaking stupid!
I hate them. I hate them!
I heard the sound of a car starting, followed by crackling rocks.
He was gone.
