I dialed Kristina's number into my phone.

She picked up almost instantly.

"Hey, Car. What's up?" She chirped.

I sniffed and said,

"I uh...I'm having a boy crisis." My voice was weak and low.

"Oh my god what happened?" Her tone a little more serious.

"Kian and I..."

"What about you?"

"We kissed last night." She squealed.

"Aww! I'm so happy for you!" I shook my head, though she couldn't see me.

"And then today when I asked him about it, he told me he doesn't know how he feels. I think he still has feelings for Andrea."

"Oh that's not good. I'm with JC right now. I think I hear Kian pulling up. Hold on."

I heard footsteps, followed by Kristina screaming.

"How could you?! She's my BEST FRIEND. Okay? You broke her heart!"

I heard Kian say "What? How did you kno- ow!"

"Kristina?!" After a long pause, she returned.

"What did you just do?"

"I slapped him." I couldn't help but burst out laughing.

"What was that for?" I heard him faintly call out.

"I love you." I said, still giggling.

"You're welcome." I could feel her smirk.

The next day, I stayed home. I watched a bunch of old movies I love.

I watched The Little Mermaid, Breakfast At Tiffany's, Sixteen Candles, Pretty In Pink, The Breakfast Club, and Prom.

And in each movie, the guy and girl fall in love and have a happy ending.

I stared at my iPhone screen. He hasn't texted yet.

I decided to get out of this house and try to clear my mind.

I grabbed my red penny board with black wheels.

I got my favorite SnapBack hat that said OBEY in Cheeta print letters.

I was wearing skinny jeans, red vans, and an red and black plaid oversized flannel.

The whole scene matched perfectly.

Red flannel, red penny board, red SnapBack. It was unplanned, yet convenient.

I rode around the sidewalk.

As I passed Kian's house, I rolled my eyes. I haven't rode my board in a while.

It reminded me of how we both met...

☁☁☁☁☁☁

I was just learning to skateboard, and I sucked.

Falling on my butt for the millionth time, my board shot out from beneath my feet.

I retrieved it from the street and got back on.

My hands and knees were scrapped, but I didn't care.

I needed to master this. I was so focused on balancing, I barely heard someone call,

"Look out!" I looked up, but it was too late.

They launched right into me, pinning me to the ground. I moaned in discomfort.

Their face was a little too close, as they were on top of me.

They slowly got off and held out their hand.

There stood a thin, tall boy with light brown hair and eyes the color of rich dark chocolate.

"I'm Kian. What's your name?" He helped me up. I smiled and replied,

"Carrie."

☁☁☁☁☁☁☁

But that was 13 years ago. Things are different now.

Or, are they?

I felt my phone vibrate and I pulled it out of my pocket. It was Kristina asking if I was okay. I began to reply.

"Hey watch out!" Someone shouted.

The next thing I knew, I was on the ground. A searing pain ran through my spine to my head and I groaned. My brain tried to process what had just happened. Something lifted off of me and I heard them say,

"Are you okay?! I'm so sorry..."

My eyes had trouble focusing.

"Wait, Carrie?" Oh great. I know the mysterious figure. The blurry figure helped me up.

"I think I should call an ambulance, you're bleeding from the back of your head."

"No, I'm fine I can walk." I tested it out, not sure I actually could. I couldn't.

I stumbled and almost face planted but they caught me.

"Car, can you see me?" They waved their hand in my face.

I shook my head.

"It's Kian. And I'm getting you to a hospital. " He propped my arm on his shoulder but I couldn't stand for myself. He picked me up and began carrying me. I nestled my head in his chest, to weak to hold my neck straight. I could see my blood seeping into his shirt.

What the hell is happening?!
