Kate works with Charles Xavier at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters as Professor Z. She is a telepath with the ability to reach long distances without the help of Cerebro. She also has a healing ability something like Wolverine's only a bit slower. She still ages, but it's definitely not Logan's near immortality. Actually he might be immortal... I digress.
Kate is close-ish friends with Sheen Stark, second in command of the Avengers, and will call on her for help once in a while... meaning almost never. If you had an army of mutants behind you, would you need to call anyone else for help frequently?
