2. Change of Course

Gray brushes back Wren's silky hair, uncovering her face so he has an unobstructed view. She turns her head, nuzzling her cheek against his fingers. One of her hands reaches out and grasps Ian's hand bringing his arm over her waist. She keeps a hold of his hand, threading her fingers in with his own. Her other hand is buried in Van's golden locks, massaging his scalp as he rests his head between her breasts. Even in sleep she seeks out the pleasure of her mates.

Her lush lips, a deep red from their passionate kisses, part in a sigh. Two pearly white fangs are revealed, their tips at a sharp point that scratched the tender skin of her lips. Gray watches as a bead of sweet smelling blood wells up and drips onto her pink tongue. She swallows the tempting morsel and hums in contentment.

Gray – 'We will have to teach her. There is so much that she will have to learn, so many conflicting thoughts, emotions and desires. It is difficult enough to get control of one nature, but three? This is going to be so hard on her.'

Van – 'Yes. But we will be with her every step of the way. We will do anything possible to relieve her of stress.'

Gray – 'She'll have to learn to control her wings, her wolf and her fangs. She will have to fight against her blood lust, animal nature and the righteous anger that fills most angels. All of this, all at once. What if it is too much for her? What if it breaks her?'

Gray kisses her forehead, his hands trembling as he cradles her head. The fear of his mate being lost to them, of her pain, causes him to feel afraid. It is such a strange and foreign emotion to a vampire. It overwhelms him. He has heard the tales of the deep love and connection of a mate. He has felt them from the moment he heard Wren's heart beating. But now, with the possibility that all of this could be too much for her, he knows that she is it. She is everything. If anything would happen to her he would not want to exist. He will take on any pain, any sorrow, any struggle as his own. He would rather die the most painful of deaths than to lose her.

Ian – 'Gray. Wren will be okay. She has handled everything exceedingly well and I have faith that she will continue to do so. We will help her. With our bond we will know the instant she starts to feel stressed and we can cease any training.''

Van – 'Also, we can take her to the island. Remove any and all temptations until she gets stronger at resisting the blood lust. We can slowly reintroduce her to the human world. Not only will it be easier on her but us as well. We won't have to be worried about her safety from others. We will have time to just be. To be with her alone, uninterrupted and relaxed.'

Gray – 'You're right. She''ll be fine. We will make sure of that.'

Gray starts to get up to inform the pilot of a change of course but the moment he pulls away Wren's brows pucker and she hisses in irritation. The second he touches her once again her forehead smooths and she sighs in relief. Gray smiles softly and kisses her lips tenderly.

Ian – 'I'll mindlink the stewardess and tell her to inform the pilot and co-pilot to change course.'

Less than a minute later they could feel the plane making a turn and readjusting to a different direction. Once they land at the airport in the Caribbean Islands they will have to take their boat out to the private island. Gray takes out his phone and sends a text to Amani, the man who tends to their property while they are away, and let him know to get the boat inspected and prepared for the 2-and-a-half-hour journey. He also asked him to have a driver waiting for them on the tarmac so they can leave directly after landing. With the quick reply back they are all assured that all will be ready upon their arrival and they will be able to take Wren to their island home in peace.
