"Veronica!" Amanda yelled from the living room. My blood ran cold as I flew down the stairs. Once I got to the living room I could see my wife standing in the middle of the room, looking down at the floor. I followed her line of vision to find that the floor is wet.

"My water just broke." Amanda said as her eyes met mine.

My body went right into action as I grabbed Amanda's go bag. When I came back downstairs I found Amanda standing in the same spot. I grabbed her slippers from their spot on the stairs and walked quickly over to my wife.

"We need to go love." I said taking her hand in mine.

"I'm scared Scar." Amanda said in a low voice.

Her blue eyes shined with fear as I looked at her. One thing rang through my mind. Amanda hasn't called me Scar in years. It's been so long since I have heard it that I almost forgot about my old nickname. I gave my wife a small smile and kissed her forehead. I'm scared as hell but I don't want her to know that, I need to be strong for the both of us.

"I know love, but everything will be okay. It's time for us to meet our daughter." I said looking into her eyes.

Amanda leaned in and pressed her lips to mine. It didn't last long, just enough for Amanda to pass her love to me. When she pulled away she grabbed her slippers from my hand before walking out of our house. I helped Amanda into the back seat of the car and took off to the hospital.

It took me 30 minutes to get to the closet hospital. I've been trying to help her through the contractions and count the time in between them but I couldn't keep track and focus on the road at the same time. All I knew is that every time I looked back at my wife, more sweat ran down her forehead.

When we finally got to the hospital Amanda's doctor met us at the door and took her back right away. The doctor started asking Amanda all of these questions as she brought her to a room. One of the nurses stopped me from following them inside.

"Mrs. Carusone, let the doctor get her ready and then I'll bring you back to her." She said and held my shoulders.

Finally when I got it through my thick skull I couldn't go in to see Amanda yet I stopped fighting against the nurse. She brought me over to the nurse's station and I filled out a lot of paperwork. Once it was all sorted out the nurse brought me to see Amanda.

Walking into the room I could tell that Amanda wouldn't last long, our daughter is coming now and nothing is going to stop her.

"How's it going babe?" I asked after putting her bag down.

"It hurts Scar." Amanda said with her eyes closed. Sweat is still pouring down her face as she reaches for my hand.

I grabbed a few tissues from the box on the nightstand to wipe it away. I could feel the sweat start to drip down the back of my neck.

"Can we turn up the air in here?" I asked as the sweat started to make its way down my back. I took Amanda's hand in mine and kissed her forehead.

"Are you ready Amanda? Your baby girl is waiting for nobody." The doctor asked.

"Yea, lets do this." Amanda said.

Nurses started running around the room getting everything together. The doctor took his place between Amanda's legs and looked at the both of us.
