Gun shots sounded all around me and all I could do is clutch Joe's book to my chest and fall to the ground. I couldn't tell if I was shot as the shots continued to ring out through the house. Finally after a felt like an eternity the shooting stopped and I took a breath. Carefully I lifted my head from the floor and looked around.

Smoking shell casing littered the floor along with the smell of fresh blood. I looked in front of me and found Joe's cold eyes staring back into mine. I scrambled backwards and looked at the rest of his body. Round red holes are scattered around his chest and I know he is dead. Slowly I lifted my body from the floor to get a look at the damage.

Joe and his two guys are lying dead on the floor with varies bullet holes in their bodies. A few of the FBI agents were picking themselves up off the floor, some wounded but it doesn't look like any of them are going to die. That's when I turned around and found Sophia laying on the floor, not moving.

I slid on the floor over to her and turned her on her back. I hit her cheek and looked at her body. Her FBI jacket has multiple bullet holes through it.

"Sophia!" I said and shook her shoulders. When she didn't respond I unzipped her jacket and saw she is wearing a bullet proof vest but it has multiple bullets stuck in it. Quickly I undid the vest and pulled it over her head to find a bullet missed her vest and lodged itself just above her pant line.

"No, I need help over here, officer down!" I yelled and pressed down on the wound.

"Did we get him?" I heard Sophia's voice. I looked up from her wound and saw her eyes are open.

"Yea, you got him" I said and smiled and she grimaced as I pressed harder onto her hip.

"How bad is the damage?" She asked and tried to get up.

"I think you need to have a doctor look at you and you'll be fine but for now please stay down." I said. Sophia nodded and officer came up to me and started to take care of Sophia.

As they worked on her I looked around the house again. Joe's black book laying on the floor just in front of him and I bent down to grab it. When I brought it closer I turned it over to look at the cover and saw a bullet is lodged right in the middle of it. This book just saved my life.

"Scar" I heard Sophia say and I looked up from the book to find her being put onto a stretcher. "Hold onto that book until I'm okay. My boss is coming down here to personally take it when I'm out of surgery got it?" Sophia said they continued to work on her.

"Nobody will be able to get their hands on it; you have my word." I said and watched as they wheel her out of the house.

Once she cleared the door I followed her out front and saw a waiting helicopter on the dirt. Looking out around the farm I saw at least 15 police cars and another two helicopters landing near the first one.

"Veronica!" I heard someone yell. It took a minute but I found Tomas running towards the house.

I pushed through the agents and police officers standing around to get to him. When he got close I jumped into his waiting arms.

"All we heard was gun fire and agents came to check on us. Are you okay? Are you hurt?" He asked and pulled away from me.

"I'm good I'm okay as long as you guys are okay." I said and looked in the direction of his house.
