Chapter 22

“So what do you think?” she smiled at me then I handed her her earphones back.

It was study hall and Teddy and I were at the Music Room again. I was lying on the floor listening to the song she just made me listen while she waited for my opinion on the piano stool. We were the only ones in the Music room.

I grinned at her and gave her the thumbs up. Teddy just told me she finally had the last song for our mash up and she even made the mash up herself and let me listen to it in her iPod.

“Phew! I thought you’re gonna hate it! At first, I was hesitant to make this and to even show you it but it’s all great now. So, when are we going to start practicing? Because sometimes I tutor 7th graders and I can go back to work now because my leg’s all fine and I don’t need a crutch anymore and I also have other extra jobs and cocurricular activities, so we really need to find the time to practice it if we want high grades and…..” Teddy kept on blabbing about her schedule while I think of a time I can be free since I also have my thing. Which is band practice because our ‘supposedly Friday gig at the mall’ was canceled since there was another bigger star that just have to do a mall show at that same mall and at that same date and time.

“Why don’t we practice after band practice?” I suddenly said out of nowhere, cutting Teddy off while she talks about who knows what.

“Are you sure? Don’t you want to rest after band practice? I mean that could be tiring! I’m not an expert or anything about bands or practices but-”

“It’s okay.” I shushed her by saying that and by putting my finger on her mouth.

Then she turned all red and said, “Okay. When will that be?”

“Want to practice later?”

Then she gave me this grin that could light up a whole Christmas tree, “That would be fantastic!”

“Okay, on three!”

“1,2,3”

Tell me where you're hiding your voodoo doll cause I can't control myself

I don't understand, wanna run away but I'm trapped under your spell.

And it hurts my head and my heart and my chest.

“That was awesome!!! We’re gonna kill it!!!” Calum yelled, after finishing a round of Voodoo Doll, Green Light and Beside You.

We were at band practice in our dorm’s lounge. It was empty except for our instruments and of course, us.

We sometimes have the lounge to ourselves since most of the guys we lived with are into sports or girls. So most of them are probably out playing on the field, watching baseball in their tellies or with their girlfriends.

“I’m so excited!!!” Michael shouted and jumped on the tattered couch that has been with this dorm since it was built.

“Me too!!! We get to do a gig in a mall and get paid for it!!” Ashton exclaimed. Then we all high-fived each other.

Ever since we run short on money because we buy useless stuff, we’ve been looking for extra jobs to pay for our instruments, practice snacks and other necessities. So this gig is really important.

“When is Teddy coming here?” Calum asked suddenly, carrying two cans of root beer from his bag.

I told the boys that I was going to use the lounge so Teddy and I could practice.
