Ever since this morning I’ve been in a funk. I miss him. But I still have to go into work. Even though he’s all I can really think about right now. However it is my cupcake bakery, so I guess I should be there. As I walked up to the door of my store I see the sign ‘Icing on top’… it makes me smile every day I see it. I opened the door and walked in to see it fairly busy inside. My employee Mel was busy helping a couple with cake testing. So I just gave her a quick wave and smile and wondered to the kitchen where I saw Aaron, my baker.
“Hey Aaron, how are things this afternoon?” I asked him.
“Girl things are fabulous today, amen.” Aaron said with the biggest smile.
“Well you seem very exited.” I said as I put on my apron and started icing some cakes.
“Mhmmm yes girl my boyfriend and I are finally moving in together!”
“Oh I’m so happy for you guys.” I said to him.
“Thank you girl. Cause you know it’s been like 4 years and he still wouldn’t commit. So last night I told him. I said either we take the next step together or I walk. And he was like: ohhh please your playing. And you know me girl I was like: oh hell no honey, I am serious this time! And he took the bait." Aaron said laughing.
“So when is it happening?”
“Tomorrow. And ohh good Lord, you look like a hot mess today. What’s going on with you child?”
“I’m just in a funk.”
“Honey you should be happy isn’t your man coming home today?”
“Yes.” I said smiling, as I picked up a tray of cupcakes to bring to the front.
“Girl, before you go out there, why don’t you head to the washroom and maybe put on some make up and also fix that hair of yours. Go on.” Aaron said to me with insisting eyes.
So I tied my hair back into a ponytail and put some make up on. I went back and grabbed the tray and brought it out to the front of the store. Then Terra walked in.
“Hey doll.” I called out to Terra.
“Hi, I need to set up a cake testing for this wedding I’m planning.” Terra said as I handed her the appointments binder. “Thanks. So, Jamie comes home today.”
“Ya I miss him, it feels like its been forever.”
“But he’s been gone for what, 5 days for his buddies’ birthday in Vegas.?” Terra chuckled as she was filling out the papers.
“I know. Its just that he left the day after we had that fight. So it’s been a while since we actually got to spend time together.”
“But later tonight is your date night with him, so get excited!
“You’re right.” I told her.
