Nala’s P.O.V

I woke up this morning feeling better about myself and a lot more comfortable with the decision that I made about my relationship with Jamie. As I got to my store I explained everything to Mel and Aaron. Once we opened Mel went to the store front and Aaron and I stayed in the back.

“Oh girl give me all the juicy details.” Aaron said with a huge smile on his face as he put on his apron.

“What details?” I said to him laughing while looking confused.

“Did y’all not have break up sex, after that dramatic & emotional talk?”

“What? No. He left right after and we haven’t even seen each other since then.”

He looked at me in disbelief. His eyes opened wide with his mouth hanging open a little. “I mean honey, how are y’all two supposed to have closure if you don’t have break up sex first?” Aaron asked smiling but serious at the same time.

“Oh Aaron.”  I said laughing.

“Child please you know I’m right. Shoot, if I was thinking about breaking up with my boyfriend you better believe we’d be having sex first.” He said as he held up his left hand and snapped his middle finger and thumb together with a flick of the wrist. “Honey after that, then I’d throw his ass out on the curb, yes ma’am.”

“I know you would.” I said as I took up the tray of cupcakes and made my way to the front of the store.

It’s been two weeks since Jamie and I broke up. I’ve been dragging myself into work everyday just to get out of my place and keep my thoughts clear and my mind occupied so that it does not take a trip down memory lane. However it’s finally Friday and I feel like this week has just been dragging on. It’s been crazy busy in the store all morning and we’ve just caught a moment of peace.

Just then Terra burst through the door. “Tell me I’m amazing, no need, I already know it!” she exclaimed as she flipped her soft red curls over her right shoulder. “Guess what I got for you, best friend?” She paused, but not for long. “I’ll tell ya.” She said answering her own question (like always), too impatient for me to respond.

“You got me something, what could that possibly be?” I teased.

“A business proposition.” Terra lit up. “The couple that I brought in here for cake testing last week, not only do they want you to do their cake, like I previously informed you, they want you to cater an entire sweets section at their wedding!”

“Wow that’s amazing.”

“That’s not even the best part. Their wedding is over the course of 2 days and it’s on a cruise ship!” Terra was practically glowing with excitement. “So if you supply the sweets you’ll need to be there to over see everything. It’s exactly what you need.” Terra threw up her hands. “You know, just time to get away and not think about you know who.” Terra exclaimed.
