Chapter 23: Competition

Ella's POV

When Peter finished telling his story, I sat in silence and took it all in. I finally understand why Peter was why he is, his heart was broken.

"So why am I here?" I asked.

"What?"

"I mean, if you love, you will die, so why am I here?" I asked again.

He clenched his teeth. "Turns out it was a lie, the shadow just wanted Rachael out of Neverland. when I went to get her back, it was too late"

"I'm so sorry" I sympathized.

Then it hit me! Did he still love her? Did I have to compete with her? I mean she's dead, sure, but he could still love her more than me.

"I have to go for a walk" I told him.

As if reading my mind, he grabbed my wrist to stop me.

"Ella" he soothed, "Don't think this changes anything. I still love you and only you, I have faced facts with Rachael's death. I love you!"

"I know, but what if you find that in a few years, you don't, you love her more"

He looked at me quizzically.

"What if in a couple of years, I have to compete with her! I mean lets be honest, there is a chance that she could come back. This is Neverland, anything is possible." I said.

He smiled. "She isn't coming back, I love you!"

I smiled back. "I love you too."

"Lets go back to camp" he said, grabbing my hand.

"Wait!"

He turned around.

"There is something I need to know."

"What is it Ella?" he asked.

I sighed. "You traded Rachael for youth... just like that! Would you do that to me?"

He looked mortified, then collected himself. "NEVER! I love you so much and it horrifies me that you would think that."

"Well you did it to her!" I yelled back, "I have every right to think that!"

"Oh c'mon Ella!" he yelled, "You have probably done many things you regret too!"

"Of course I have! I regret coming to Neverland, meeting you, trusting you... and most importantly, I regret falling in love with Peter Pan!"

"Fine!" he yelled. "Then maybe we shouldn't do this!"

I felt a tear slip down my cheek and he noticed.

"Ella, I didn't mean..."

I cut him off. "Whatever. I guess we shouldn't"

I started to walk away. "I'm not coming to camp tonight, I'll probably see you round though"

"Ella, please come back to camp" he begged, almost in tears, "I can't let you go"

I continued walking.

Peter's POV

'Then maybe we shouldn't do this!'

Good going Pan, I told myself. What have I done! Ella had every right to ask those questions and I was horrible to her. Now she's gone. I know Ella, she won't come back. I have done things like this before but this time, Ella is alone in the jungles of Neverland. I could have lost her for good!

The tears didn't stop flowing and I didn't try to stop them. I loved Ella, more then Rachael, more than the lost boys, I loved her more than anything!

Rumpelstiltskin's POV

This is bad! Ella and Pan are growing apart which will make it harder for her to kill him. I have to find a way to get them closer and she must be prepared.

"Madi!" I yelled.

She stalked into the room.

"What is it?!" she snapped.

"Change of plans, we need to commence faze 2"

"Already?!" she asked.

"Yes! Ella is going to kill Peter Pan in 3 days!"
