Savannah awoke to a silent house. She when into the living room, and Chris wasn't there. "Was it all a dream," she asked herself. She sat on the floor and started talking to herself. "I couldn't of been a dream. I saw him." She heard a sudden silent knocks at the door. She ran to the door quickly to see Chris with his katana in one hand and a map in the other. She grinned at him and asked, "Where did you go?"

"I went to find a map," he said holding up the map.

"I thought we would of left by now. You did say first light."

"Ya well, you looked exhausted so I let you rest. Besides, we still have no idea where we are gonna go."

"Right," she said.

"So, where do you wanna go?" Chris asked.

"Umm... I don't know, how about Crossroads?"

"Hmm... a lot of food, clothes, room... good idea Savannah!"

"Thanks, when do you wanna go?"

"Let's eat, then we will head out."

Chris dug in his bag and took out the plastic bags with the stuff from subway. Savannah had italian bread with salami, pepperoni, cheddar cheese, lettuce, and pickles. "Wow you must be really hungry," Chris said watching her eat the sub.

"I haven't eaten in two days of course I'm hungry!"

He laughed, "Well hurry up we need to go," he said finishing his six inch.

"Don't rush me bitch," she said taking her final bite. They grabbed whatever they found useful and started heading towards Crossroads.

They walked the first two miles not really talking much, but after awhile Chris stopped, Savannah stopped too. "What is it?" She asked

"Shhh," he said listening. Savannah thought to herself is he crazy? She wondered if they were ever gonna keep going, but they just stood there looking around. Out of nowhere he grabbed her arm and dragged her off the road and into the bushes.

"What the fuck," she said prying her arm from his grip.

"Shhhh," he said and pointed to the on coming hoard of zombies walking towards them "Holy shit," Savannah said in a whisper. She felt a tug on her arm and saw Chris crouching and moving along the bushes still following the road going towards the hoard of beast. "What are you doing?" She asked him, and he simply replied by putting his index finger over his lip and waving for her to follow. She did exactly as he did stopping many time because a zombie had wandered towards them, but when the zombies went past they both showed signs of relief. "How did you now they were coming?" She asked.

"I don't know I guess I just knew."

'That's a lie' Chris thought in his head, he knew how they were coming because of nature. Apparently no one could figure it out, but when the dead approach all of the birds and other animals to quiet. That's why he has survived so long at his house, with it being surrounded by nature and all. Chris kept thinking that now he has a reason to keep fighting the zombies, because he had maybe his only friend left. Savannah. He told himself that he would do whatever he could to keep them both safe, but if it came down to one of them having to die, then he would save her.

Chris and Savannah both finally made it to crossroads they were standing in the parking lot. There are crashed cars everywhere, and there were no zombies in sight. "That's weird," Chris said.

"What?" Savannah asked.

"This is the center of St. Cloud and there are no zombies in sight."

"Well maybe it's just our lucky day. Come on." She said with a smile and headed for the entrance to the food court. Chris found this very odd, but followed her anyway. They got to the entrance to see that it hadn't been boarded up and the doors were unlocked. Chris and Savannah opened the doors and went inside.
