What is IT?

Day after day she trained with Itachi. He was acting different than usual. Colder, more harsh. It started the day after that night when she spoke with Sasuke.

Flashback~

"Thank you."

His eyes widened. She caught him kissing her forehead. His blush deepened immensely. She smiled.

"W-What do you mean?" he stammered

Tears came to her eyes. "For caring."

A pang of sadness hit him like a boulder. He leant down. Embracing her in his arms he spoke. "Please don't cry Mizu." She buried her face in his chest.

After minutes she spoke in a rough voice. "Sasuke?" He pulled back to look at her. Swiftly her lips were on his. He tensed at first. Then kissed back. Still together he laid her back in the bad and covered her with sheets. "Sleep." She abided and fell asleep quickly.

End~

Tomorrow was the day of the final exam and Mizu would be facing Ino who had win her match against Sakura. So she went to the clearing to meet with Itachi. She saw him sitting on the bank with one knee bent and his arm resting on it. "So what do you want to do today?" she asked sitting next to him. He was silent. She looked at him. He didn't look at her. "Hello." she said waving her hand in front if his face.

Big mistake

He grabbed her wrist to quick for her to dodge. Twisting it she gasped in pain. He flipped her over so she was in her stomach and and he sat on her back holding her hand, pinning her. He leant down next it her ear. "Patience is a virtue." she scoffed and he added pressure to her wrist. Gasping again she placed her chin in the ground. She pretended to struggle but she swung her leg up behind her like a scorpion. She hit his head and he fell forward. She sat up and rubbed her wrist. "You didn't have to be an ass about it." she mumbled. He was silent again. "Why do I bother you've been an ass for weeks now." she mumbled again.

She stood and started to walk away. Once she reached the tree line Itachi was blocking her path. Fear came over her. "Itachi, what are you doing?" Something about his demeanor changed and he was now cold. He took out a kunai. She gulped and stepped back. "I-Itachi?" his eyes were hard and he stepped closer and closer causing her to back up until she was against a tree. He pressed the kunai to her throat. She calmed herself down and when she showed resolve he took the blade away. "That's all for today." he stepped back. "Damn you looked scary. I thought you were actually going to kill me." she took a few steps forward. Again Itachi was next to her. From behind he held her mouth and a kunai to her neck. "You can't trust everything you see." Fear settled within her.

He pulled her against his chest and leant down next to her ear. "You can't trust what men will do." she tensed and relaxed when he let go. "Ok stop with the pervertedness." She looked away. He chuckled. "the hell?" She mumbled eyes wide and staring at him. "Is something wrong?" he asked. "You... you just... just laughed?" she pointed surprised. He smirked. "I know I don't have your affections so I won't bother you in that way." he turned around. She grabbed his wrist. "Does that mean?" he looked back at her with a grim look. "I know of your affections towards my brother." she pulled her hand back and took a shy step away. "I- I'm sorry Itachi." she mumbled before before turning on her heal and running away. Fast.

She was on the verge of tears and the look in his eyes didn't help. She finally stopped at a tree, out of breath, and sat down to rest.

She didn't know what to do. "Sorry Itachi." she whispered quietly to herself.

"Why be sorry?"

Her head shot up. "Who's there?!" she stood in fighting stance and looked around.

"Nobody's here. We're alone."

She put her arms down and fell to her knees wide eyed. "N-No... Not you."

"Yes me. Yes you."

"Who are you?!" she yelled. Tears came to her eyes threatening to fall.

"I am hatred, I am fear, I am insanity. I am you."

It whispered evilly. She started to shake.

"With power comes great weakness."

She hunched forward and screamed. A ear splitting scream rang through the forest. Her head was pounding, all at the will of what rested in her mind.

She fell forward and curled into a ball screaming and crying. Itachi heard and got there as fast as he could. He found her lying on the ground holding her head.

"Mizu!" he went to her and lifted her onto his lap holding her. "What's wrong? What happened?" he was worried. The pain was to intense and she blacked out.

He knew he couldn't leave her out in the open. He did a transformation jutsu and headed into town. People didn't take notice of him. He made his way quickly to her home and up to her room. He sat her down on the bed. Still leaning over her. Her hands shot out and grabbed the collar of Akatsuki cloak he had on after undoing the transformation. She was still shaking.

"Pl-please d-don't leave. It-it'll come b-back." she stuttered.

"You think he can keep me out girl?"

Her eyes widened and she grabbed her head and stifled a scream. He grabbed her. "Mizu calm down!" he made her look at him. "I'm here." he whispered. He hugged her and she gripped his cloak and sobbed as the pain had a huge spike in intensity then slowly faded away. During that spike she whimpered and groaned loudly doing her best to not scream and shout. Itachi laid down cradling her. "I-Itachi?" she whispered still shaking slightly. "Yes?" he looked down at her. She looked up out if the corner of her eye. "Thank you." she put her face back down and into his chest. "For what?" he asked. She closed her eyes and buried her face in the crook of his neck. "For keeping it away." she started crying. "Mizu what is it?" he asked worried. "I... I can't talk right now." he nodded and moved to stand up leaning on his elbow. She stopped him. "P-please don't go. It'll come back." her voice and face showed true fear. He laid back down and pulled her close. "If I can keep it away then I will stay till I must go." she nodded against his chest. Soon she fell asleep in his arms and he dosed off as well.
