Derek's pov:

(At the hospital)

I need to find Owen I really need to get my job back, our last conversation didn't go so well so hopefully he will hire me back even after everything I have done. I go to Owens office and knock on the door, luckily he opens it and let's me in.

Owen: what can I do for you Derek

Derek: I need my job back please

Owen: I can't do that I'm sorry but I can offer you an attending position, you will be working under Amelia though. Will that be a problem?

Derek: I would really like my old position back but if that's not possible then I will work under my sister, I have bigger things to worry about other than my job at the moment

Owen: oh ya that's right, have you and Meredith figured things out?

Derek: not exactly we are going to be living under the same roof for the kids, and she says she wants to try to fix our marriage that divorce isn't an option because she doesn't want our kids to grow up in a broken home. So at least I have hope that one day we will get back to where we were before I cheated on her.

Owen: well I hope you two work things out, it would be a shame if you two got a divorce. Anyways if that's all I have a lot of work to do.

Derek: ya that's all thanks for everything

( Derek drives back home)

Merediths pov:

After Derek leaves I spend some time with the kids, I cherish the time I get with them considering our lives are very hectic especially when Derek was in DC and I we taking care of everything here. Hopefully Derek gets his job back so that the kids can experience some normalcy around here. Once I finish putting the kids down for a nap I hear the door open, I guess Derek is back.

M: hey did you get your job back?

D: not exactly, I'm working under my sister now but at least I have a job. I'm more focused on us I need to try to fix what I broke

M:ya you do but it's not like it's a one man job. Most couples get a divorce and that can't happen to us. It's just frustrating that you slept with another woman for no good reason

D: I know I really screwed up and I regret sleeping with her. You are the only woman I love and you are the love of my life. I'm glad that you don't want a divorce and that you want to work on our marriage

M: I think we should do marriage counseling, it might help

D: I will do whatever you want me to do, do you want to see if there is a spot with one of the doctors at our hospital?

M: I will make some calls and then I will let you know what's happening

D: okay

( few hours later)

M: Derek I made a few calls and we have an appointment with a marriage counsellor tomorrow before my shift starts, idk your schedule so just let me know if I need to reschedule

D: that works for me, I need to talk to Owen after to actually get my schedule and I need to talk to Amelia to let her know that I have changed and won't be trying to steal her job

M: yes that would be a good idea, you have hurt. Lot of people including me so you have a lot of things to fix since you are back . I just wish you came back because you missed your family and not because you fucked another woman and felt guilty
