Yuri's POV

"Nothing..you just misread the situation." Viktor said. It broke my heart to hear him say this, couldn't he tell Yuri the truth?

"That's a crappy lie and you know it." I suppose Yuri picked up on this too. "Well..there is something going on between us, I think.." Viktor seemed oddly reluctant to tell him for some reason.

"Okay. Hey, I'll see you tomorrow." He got up and left, well more like just went outside. "What did he mean by that?"

"Work, remember? I'll go get a drink be right back." I watched the TV as something unexpected came up. Of course, I had no clue what they were saying, but I'm 100% sure of what I was seeing.

There was a video of Viktor, elegantly skating in front of thousands of people. "W-what?!" I exclaimed. So this was his job, a professional ice skater?

"Hm?" Viktor popped his head round the door and saw the TV. "Ah see I knew you'd find out soon." He told me with a smile.

"Ah you do ice skating as well?"

"A-as well?"

"I do too...it's why I came here in the first place."

Viktor looked excited at this. "Yuri, how about you come and practice with me? After all I am a gold medalist, I can teach you a few things."

"What? Really?" A gold medalist? Wow, how come I've never heard of this guy before? "Okay sure I will!"

"Отлично! Then you can come with me tomorrow."

The next day I went back to the hotel and explained what happened and grabbed my things. Then me and Viktor got a taxi to the ice rink which was quite nearby.

When we got inside it was huge, full of many amazing skaters. We put our skates on and I took a step onto the rink. Just then, Yuri came over to me.

"Oh hi." I greeted him. As I looked down at him wondered how old he was and if he had won any medals before.

"I'm 15 if you're wondering." Wow he read my mind perfectly. He must still be doing junior skating then.

"Hey Yuri come over here." Viktor called. I amply skated over not really paying attention and ended up tripping. He caught me quite easily and chuckled. "Be careful." Wow...I'm an excuse for a professional skater. "Thanks."

Viktor decided to show me the performance he was going to do. It started off with a flawless quadruple salchow leading into a quadruple lutz followed by a combined spin. After that I wasn't really paying attention to what it was he was actually doing, I just know that it looked amazing. Once he came to a graceful stop I clapped in awe.

"That was amazing!" He skated over breathlessly but somehow remained with composure. "Thanks. So what do you have planned to do?"

Ah well... "Um actually I'm not completely sure...I haven't thought of a routine yet."

Viktor looked a little surprised which was understandable. We had only around six months to prepare and I hadn't even started to think about it.

"I can help you and teach you some more moves. Come over here." I followed him a few metres back. "Do you know how to do a triple axel?" A... What..? I shook my head.

"Here it looks like this." He skated forward and jumped into the air, gracefully landing on his opposite leg facing me. "Woaah! How am I ever gonna learn to do that?" He chuckled. "Don't worry I'll help you."

"What's difficult about this is you have to do 3.5 rotations instead of a normal amount like four. You start off like this-" he stood behind me and took my hands into his own. He lead me forward and explained to me how to jump.

I jumped into the air with a forwards take off, and awkwardly managed 3.5 rotations. Well, it was more like 3.7 actually. As I landed, I bent my knees and tried to look graceful instead of looking like a dying walrus.

Once I did so, Viktor grabbed my shoulder to steady me. "Well done that's pretty much it! You just need to perfect it." I felt really excited at this point. I can't believe I actually did it!

He took his hand off of my shoulder and I grabbed his hand. "Thank you Viktor! You're a really good teacher!" He smiled with a blush. "It's nothing. You're really talented to be able to do it that well on your first try. When I first attempted it I ended up falling and hitting my head on the ice." I laughed as I tried to imagine that scene. It was really strange to think that just a few years ago he couldn't even jump and yet now he's a gold medalist. Maybe I could take inspiration in that.

"Okay, let's try again."
