Joey—
Charlotte rolled over, facing me. Her left hand laid on my chest, her engagement ring shining the dim light. She smiled up at me as placed a kiss to my jaw.
"I love you, Joseph." She grinned.
"I love you too, Char." I smirked.
She groaned, "Don't use that name."
"How about Char-baby?" I asked, "Or, Lottee."
"No," she whined, "Those are awful."
"I really like Char-baby." I whispered, taking her hand and kissing it.
"I really like your face." She replied.
God, this woman was something else. She amazing, kind-hearted, sweet, beautiful, talented. She was funny. She was everything I've ever wanted.
"I can't wait to marry you." I mumbled.
"Charlotte! Joey! Time for dinner!" Mrs. Shelton called.
She groaned, "And I so can't wait to move out."
I laughed and gently pressed my lips to hers, "You'll miss it one day, but soon we'll be living together."
"Come on. We need to go downstairs." She sighed, throwing off the blanket and turning off our movie. She got up, leaving me in her bed.
I quickly hopped up, and followed her. I scooped her up, carrying her bridal style. I carried her out of her bedroom, down the hall and down the stairs. I put her down before we entered her dining room.
I gently kissed her, savoring the moment.
"You look super gorgeous in my sweatpants, Char-baby." I whispered against her lips.
"Nah." She giggled. I laughed, kissing her again. This time, her hand went around my neck, and I wrapped my arm around her waist, pulling her closer.
"Mom! They're just kissing again!" Aubrey, her little sister, shouted.
Charlotte pulled back, jumping in surprise. She looked at her little sister and glared, "I'm going to kill you!"
"Mom! Charlotte's gonna kill me!" Aubrey whined, running away. Charlotte groaned and ran after her.
I laughed, loving every aspect of Charlotte. I knew how annoying siblings could be, I was the youngest with two older brothers. I was often picked on.
Shaking my head, I stepped into their dining room. Charlotte chased Aubrey around the table.
"Charlotte Mae! Aubrey Faye! Knock it off!" Mr. Shelton scolded, "Charlotte won't be here much longer. Get along!"
"Can I have her room?" Aubrey asked hopefully.
"No!" Charlotte scoffed, "I'd like to have children one day!"
I smiled and leaned up against the wooden doorway. I smirked, "I would hope so, Char-baby. Our kids would be adorable. Especially with you as their mother."
"Joey," she whined, "Not that name."
She came around the table, pushing out her pouty lips at me. I laughed, kissing her pouty lips.
"I don't know about you, angel, but I'm hungry." I whispered.
Dean, her older brother, came in and sat down. He sighed, "Just be happy that you never had to share your room."
Mrs. Shelton came in, gently hitting the back of his head, "That was only for a year when I was pregnant with Aubrey."
Charlotte looked up at me as she wrapped her arm around my waist. "Our kids are never sharing a room." She stated.
"Whatever you want, angel." I smiled.
"Bleh. Can y'all stop? Y'all are worse than mom and dad." Aubrey groaned.
I laughed, "Come on, kid. It can't be that bad. I love seeing my parents still in love. Especially after over 30 years and three kids later."
Aubrey looked to me, "You have brothers and sisters?"
"Yep!" I nodded, "Just two older brothers."
"I love your brothers. They're so sweet." Charlotte grinned.
I scoffed, "Live with them for over 18 years. You'll change your mind."
Mrs. Shelton laughed, "Come on, you two. Sit down, so we can begin with prayer."
I nodded and sat down, Charlotte taking a seat next to me. We all joined hands as Mr. Shelton began grace.
"Lord, we thank you for this day, and this food that will nourish our bodies. We thank you for bringing us together as a family. And we pray that Joey and Charlotte will have many happy years together in the future, pursuing a godly relationship. In your name, we pray, amen."
"Amen." We all muttered, and dropped our hands. Mrs. Shelton handed out wine glasses to everyone, but Aubrey, and poured a little white wine. Mr. Shelton passed around the dinner, some Italian pasta.
~*~*~
We laid on the roof, we could access from Charlotte's window. It was a warm night, and stars lit up the night sky.
Charlotte laid there next to me, taking pictures of the constellations. That's what she did. She made a living by being a photographer. More often than not, did the band hire her as our photographer. Plus, we normally got a discount for her being my girlfriend.
"You know, Char-baby?" I started, "Out of all the beauty God made, you're his most beautiful creation."
She laughed, "Baby, you know it's a sin to lie." She joked.
"Except it's not a lie." I whispered, kissing her cheek.
"I love you." She giggled.
"I love you too, angel." I stated.
She let out a happy sigh, "I can't wait to do this every night. Just us, God, and the stars."
"I can't wait to cuddle with you every night, and be the first face I see in the morning. Kiss you first thing." I grinned, pulling her closer to me.
"You could kiss me now." She smirked, putting down her camera.
"Nah." I snickered.
She huffed, "Too bad. I want a kiss." Jokingly, I kissed her cheek. She whined, "Joey, I want an actual kiss."
I laughed, quickly kissing her. "You're lucky I love you."
"I love you too!" She grinned.
