It was September 5th 2016. The birds were singing merry tunes as the sun woke up and shined brightly over the trees, the grass, the animals and the buildings. It was a beautiful morning; The sky was slightly pink, and the clouds looked like cotton candy. It was quite relaxing and gave you the good feeling about what the day has to offer. Everyone was looking forward to the first day back to school or college, including one person in particular - Regina Mills.

"Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep!" The sound of the alarm clock woke up Regina as she started fidgeting to turn herself over in bed so she could turn it off with her hand. It was 6:30 and it was time for her to get ready for her first day back at college as a Sophomore. Regina stayed at home when she didn't have class because she didn't have a dorm as she lived locally. She opened her eyes and lay in bed momentarily, thinking about how much she was looking forward to see Daniel and her friends. She sat up and turned herself around so her legs were hanging over the side of the bed. She slipped her slippers onto her feet and shuffled to the bathroom.

She did her usual morning routine; she had a shower, she moisturised her face, arms and legs, she did her make up, she did her hair just how she wanted it for that day - down, with a perfect wave at the bottom - and she then went to her wardrobe to pick out the perfect outfit. Normally, it would take her about 5 minutes but today was taking her a little bit longer because it was the first day back and she was a Sophomore, which was a big thing so she wanted to look extra nice; not to impress other people but to make her feel good about herself, well maybe just to impress Daniel, but he thinks she'd look beautiful in a plastic bag. After a lot of indecisive self-debates, she chose to wear a pair of black skinny jeans with rips on the knees, a cream top that fell off one shoulder, a pair of leather boots, just above the ankle and a pair of beautiful dangly earrings with clear gems on them. Regina took a look in the mirror to top up her lip gloss and then took her bag and made her way downstairs.

As she entered the kitchen, her father, Henry was making himself some scrambled eggs on toast. He seemed quite quirky. "Good morning, Princess." He said with a smile. Regina looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "What?" Henry said so innocently. "I thought we agreed you weren't going to call me any sweet, childlike nicknames anymore?" Regina confronted him as she walked over to the fridge. "I don't see the harm in that." Henry said, pretending to get defensive. "Well maybe ones like, Princess, Pumpkin, Muffin and others that are associated with food should be off the bucket list." Regina suggested with a soft laugh as she pulled out a bottle of pure orange juice. Henry's mind switched on and started racing through thought, before he hit a light bulb. "Well what about Gi-gi?" He said with hope that he'll still be able to call it her. "No, especially that one!" Regina exclaimed bashfully. "Aw, come on, you loved it when I called you that" Henry reminded her. "Yeah, when I was 5! I'm nearly 21 now, so I've grown out of it." Regina explained. "Besides, it's kind of embarrassing." She cleared her throat as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "Well, I think it's cute, but if you don't want me calling you that anymore, then I won't." Henry said, forcing a smile on his face to hide his disappointment. "Thank you." Regina smiled as she kissed her father on the cheek. She grabbed her bag, her phone, her keys and her orange juice; getting ready to leave the house. "Hey, are you not having any breakfast?" Henry asked. Regina smiled at him. "I don't want to run late for my first day back at college." She explained as she took an apple from the fruit bowl on the side. "Okay, I'll see you later, Prin... hunnie." Henry said to his daughter, nearly forgetting about the conversation they had just had. "See you later." Regina giggled. She closed the door to leave. "I love you!" Henry shouted. The door opened. "I love you too." Regina smiled. She closed the door for the second time and left.

It was almost 8:30 when Regina got to the front gates of Storybrooke University. Her first class didn't start until 9:00 so she had some time to spare. The first thing she did was text Daniel to find out where he was.

R: Hey, where are you?xx

D: Running late babe. Car broke down. I'll be there soon 😘 xx

Regina sighed as she looked up from her phone. She was a little disappointed that Daniel was running late as she would have liked to have spent a bit of time with him before her first class started, but she brushed it off as she knew it wasn't his fault and she knew she would get to see him later. She looked around campus and noticed a coffee stand. She decided to start her day with a hot cup of coffee, to wake her up a bit and make her more alert. "A milky latté please." As she finished paying for her coffee a familiar voice grabbed her attention. "Regina!" She looked around her, visually inspecting everyone she could see to fit a face to the voice that was calling her name. She finally noticed that someone was walking towards her - someone that she had been friends with since Kindergarten, someone with blonde hair, a flower tattoo on her wrist and an iconic red leather jacket. "Hey." Regina smiled. Emma Swan was one of the few people that Regina trusted and she always knew how to make her feel better when she felt upset or alone and if the boot was ever on the other foot then Regina was always there to support her. I guess that's why they're best friends.

Regina was still stood at the coffee stand when Emma finally approached her. They shared a hug before Emma started a conversation. "So how was Summer break?" She asked. "It was pretty good; I got to spend some time with my dad and I also got to spend time with Daniel. He was around a lot so my dad and him spent some time getting to know each other." Regina explained with a smirk. "Aw, I'm glad you had fun. I bet Daniel and your dad have a father-like-son bond now, I'm sure." Emma joked. "Shut up." Regina said with a smile. "Speaking of lover boy, where is he?" Emma asked. Regina gave her a stern look but smiled to ensure that she was only half serious. "He's running late. His car broke down." She said. "Typical." Emma exhaled. "What?" Regina asked. "We should know by now that he's always late for everything." She sighed with a sprinkle of sarcasm. "Hey, I don't exactly recall Killian possessing an award for best timekeeper of the year." Regina retaliated jokingly. "Leave my Killy out of this, it's your boyfriend that's late, not mine." She said with a smile, pretending to get defensive. "Well little miss smart ass, if you could tell the time properly, you would have realised that it's 8:50 so he's not late as of yet." Regina pointed out with a smug look on her face. Before Emma could respond a black BMW, with the radio playing music very loudly, pulled up near them. "Speak of the devil." Emma said. "Hey babe. I'm so sorry I couldn't make our little coffee date this morning." Daniel apologised as he got out of the car. "It's okay. You'll just have to make it up to me later." Regina smiled. "Okay, deal." Daniel smiled back before they both shared a soft but passionate kiss. "Okay love birds, I'm gonna get to class before I witness you both playing tongue o' war." Emma teased. Regina squinted her eyes at Emma whilst giving her a sarcastic and childish smile. "See you later." She said with a half smile.
