I told Luhan the way to my apartment and he started driving once we pulled out of his driveway. An awkward silence filled the car and both of us didn't talk for a while until Luhan asks "if you live where you told me, what're you doing on this side of town? It's an hour away from our school?" Luhan asks, I guess he was just trying to start a conversation.
I didn't answer and continued to look out the window. I guess when he realised I wasn't going to answer him, he asks "so you're not going to answer me?"
"I don't need to tell you." I answer right away.
He didn't say anything once again and we stopped at a red light. "You know...thanks...for...helping me back there." He says in a faint mumble. I'm glad I heard him say thank you though.
"No problem...what was your dad doing?" I ask, now I was the one who was curious.
"I don't need to tell you that either." He explains and I nodded, agreeing. If I wasn't going to tell him things, he shouldn't tell me personal things either. I'd just be a hypocrite if I complained about it.
"What about your parents, aren't they worried that you're out so late?" Luhan asks...wow, is he actually concerned? Is he really a nice person when his friends aren't around or is it just because I helped him with his dad.
"My parents aren't home so it's okay."
"Where do they work?"
"Some business, they usually ask to work overtime so they can get more money." I explain and I could see Luhan nodding from the corner of my eye.
"What about you?"
"My mom's not with us and my dad doesn't work."
"If your dad doesn't work how do you get money to pay for the bills or to even pay for this car?" I ask, looking at Luhan totally confused.
"Our family from China sends us money. My dad said he wanted to move to Korea to start a new life for us here but he hasn't changed much." Luhan explains, starting to drive once the light turned green, having his eyes fixed on the road.
"I see" I say in a quiet tone. "How'd you get this car then, it looks brand new." I ask, observing the inside of his car.
"What do you think, I have a job."
"You have a job?!" I ask in a surprised tone, I would never expect Luhan to have a job. On his social media he's always at parties and is staying up late.
"You sound surprised" he mentions with a light smirk appearing on his face.
"Sorry...I just never thought you'd have a job because of how many parties you go to. When would you have the time to work?" I question and he shrugs.
"I'm not telling you my tricks" he says with a fake laugh at the end.
I started to recognise our surroundings now and knew we were in my area. I then turned my head to look at Luhan's face. "Is your nose okay?" I ask, looking at the dried blood from underneath Luhan's nose.
"You mean this?" Luhan asks, pointing to the dried blood I was staring at. "Of course I'm fine, this is nothing." Luhan explains in a smile, like it really was nothing.
"Does...your dad do a lot of that?" I question, looking at Luhan seriously and he became quiet.
"Why do you want to know, you want me to punch your fat face to show you how it feels or something?" Luhan asks, yeah he's back.
"No..." I say in a light mumble, looking down into my lap.
I could see my apartment in the distance, it was just down the road but we stopped at a red light again. "So Minseok, why're you so fat?" He asks and it felt like something inside me broke. I wanted to punch him in the face so his nose would bleed again.
