The two had their eyes glued to the screen.

Controllers in their hands, their fingers moving at the speed of light, mashing buttons.

The cheery beeping sounded as the word 'WINNER!' covered the screen, signaling Gray had won once again.

"I'm a disgrace..." A gloomy aura surrounded Lucy as she hung her head.

"Guess I'm just lucky today." Gray folded his arms and smirked victoriously.

"I hate this game of emotions we play!" Lucy exclaimed, animated waterfalls of tears covering her cheeks.

"Don't worry! I'm sure you'll get better over time. All it takes is practice." Gray patted the blonde on the back.

"Really?" Lucy looked up with hopeful, teary eyes.

"Well duh! You're from 400 years in the past! It's gonna take time for you to get used to everything." Gray smiled.

Lucy's eyes lit up. She nodded.

"Despite your cocky demeanor, you're very kind, Gray-san." The blonde smiled.

"Shh, shh! I got a reputation 'a keep!" Gray chuckled.

Lucy giggled.

"Don't worry. I won't tell anyone about the puppy your secretly taking care of." Lucy smirked.

"H-How do you know about that?!" Gray's cheeks flushed.

"I saw you walk behind the school library and decided to follow you. It's very sweet of you to care for it." Lucy's eyes softened.

"Shut up. I'm only doin' it cause I feel like it." Gray folded his arms and turned his head.

"I've always wanted a dog. But, my father was very strict growing up, and I never got to have any animals. It was pretty lonely." Lucy recalled, sadness filling her eyes.

"If you want, you can come with me during lunch everyday and help me with it." Gray suggested, feeling bad for her pet-less childhood.

"I would love to!!" Lucy perked up.

"Great. Meet me behind the library during lunch then." Gray said.

Lucy nodded excitedly.
