Erika groggily opened her eyes and attempted to sit up from where she way laying down but was restricted by straps. Surprised, she looked down at her body.
She was shocked to see herself laying on a metal surface with her limbs strapped to the table like a crazed test subject. The purplette tried to remember what happened before her capture and all the memories came flooding back like a tsunami.
Oh yeah.. She thought, eyes dull as she flashbacked to the rocky mountains.
Erika gazed down on her left arm. There was a mildly sized white scar where her flesh had been torn. Stiffness covered her whole entity. She wanted move; to stretch; to forget...
A figure entered the room. Erika observed the man as he stepped to the right of the steel counter where she lay strapped to. She saw he carried a weapons belt with a stunner and gun attached to it.
More footsteps entered. Paw steps followed the footsteps as more people entered the building. Then came that familiar blonde. It was a struggling effort not to look at him.
Erika's dry eyes stung again as silver droplets fought to break free. Suddenly the purplette felt ashamed. Ashamed for lying on the day they departed, ashamed for going back to that ramshackle of a building in Meteor City, ashamed for the deaths she had caused and helped with.
What troublesome emotions.. Erika thought, smiling coldly at the ceiling. She faced him then. His eyes were distraught and confused as he peered into her own.
The teen ignored the rest of the people inside the room and kept her eyes glued to the face she had been longing to see these few months.
She remembered their promise to meet each other again. Erika assumed this wasn't how either of them planned for it to be.
The person who seemed to be in charge spoke up. She directed her dull purple hues in his direction. They had a tiny staring contest before Erika smiled falsely and blinked. A low growl rumbled out of the man's throat.
"Who are you and what group do you belong to?" The man asked coldly. Erika kept her mouth sealed and gave him a close-eyed smile. The unidentified person hit her with the back of his hand. It left a red hand mark on her cheek.
Kurapika had flinched at the sound and watched in disbelief as a gun was pointed at her face. He couldn't bare to watch anymore.
"Erika Okarii, member of the Phantom Troupe." He answered for her. Erika looked at him agape and her expression darkened. Kurapika couldn't care less as long as Dalzollene quit hitting her.
"Do you know this woman, Kurapika?" Dalzollene asked. The blonde nodded hesitantly before adding, "I participated in the Hunter Exam with her." He said, not stating the entire truth but only mini little parts.
The head bodyguard considered this and gave a small nod. Fortunately, they still hadn't noticed Machi's Nen thread.
It stung, of course, when she was first punctured by it but Erika was glad they were tracking her. She couldn't endure another moment strapped to the table with the person she loved staring at her on the side like an interrogator.
Please come soon. She thought. Erika closed her eyes tightly as Kurapika's own bore into her like a microscope. Her heart clenched but began to beat faster.
"I don't like this.." She mumbled. "Eh? Then you should answer our questions faster!" Dalzollene shouted.
Erika flinched at his volume as he screamed it into her ear. She thought the eardrum would burst, but thankfully, it didn't.
"Dalzollene-san, may I have a word with her alone? I think I can reason with her. But I have a condition, she must be unstrapped." He whispered. Dalzollene got outraged.
"I can see why you'd ask me to let you talk alone but unstrap her?!?!" He shouted. "Did you see what she did to those people?!" The words hit home as Erika's face crinkled sourly.
"She won't attack me, I swear." Kurapika countered. The head bodyguard clenched his teeth before saying, "Whatever. Don't blame me if you die." Kurapika nodded and watched, relieved, as they began cautiously unfastening the straps that tied Erika down.
The purplette flicked her stiff wrists and rolled her shoulder once the restricting straps were removed. She gazed bitterly at the red marks around her wrist and ankles but diverted her gaze as the people filed out of the room leaving her with the person she dreaded the most.
Kurapika coughed awkwardly from where he stood but got no response. A moment later Erika said, "Just let me go or re-strap me and torture me till I die." Kurapika looked distraught at the answer.
"No!" He said swiftly. Erika's head snapped to where he was. "Look, I did bad things that I'm too ashamed to say to you. I lied and killed and don't deserve yours nor anyone's pity! Not even Gon's!" She said sharply. Kurapika looked at her pitifully.
"I told you not to pity me Kurapika!" She shouted, her features going golden. Kurapika watched amazed and surprised as something similar to his eyes happened to the purplette.
Erika panted as her head let out a cry of pain and she grasped the sides of her forehead with both hands. Kurapika made a move to touch her but was interrupted with a "Stop."
He retracted his arms but gazed worried at her. Erika's mouth tightened into a thin line.
This is awful.. She thought.
"Please, just get angry with me. Please, let your fury out on me. Please, don't give me mercy." Erika begged, tears rimming her eyes.
The tears began to flood when warm, calloused hands wrapped around her waist and pulled her tightly closer. Soft weeps erupted as well when Kurapika whispered softly into her ear, "I don't care about that."
Erika pulled back her head and gazed into his eyes. They were soft and forgiving which just made her hate herself even more.
"Why am I so blessed?" She asked, teary eyed. "I don't deserve you nor Gon nor Killua and neither do I deserve Leorio." Kurapika smiled at her. "Personally, I think you do deserve it." He told her. Erika looked at him confused. The blonde shook his head and silenced her completely by placing his lips on hers.
Surprised, the purplette gasped but gave into the temptation by returning it. Her arms wrapped involuntarily around Kurapika's shoulders.
After the two separated they stood together in comfortable silence, foreheads pressed against each other. Neither cared if anyone entered or not, both were just happily enjoying the others presence.
"Thank you, Kurapika."
