I watched this anime this week and it was so good I decided I had to do a review for it. This review will be based on the whole series including the specials so there will be some spoilers So if you’re reading this and haven’t already watched it and you don’t want to know right now would be a good time not to lol Anyway let’s begin :)

So basically Kamisama Dolls is about this boy, Kyohei Kuga who was a Seki which means that he was the controller of a god(kakashi). The gods are these huge robot like things and some of them (well Kukuri at least) look like dolls and that’s why the anime is named as it is. So anyway Kyohei used to live in this village where time stands still but something really bad happens involving the kakashi and he gives up his right as a seki to his sister and leaves the village to live in Tokyo. This is where he meets Hibino Shiba and falls in love with her. One day they both discover a dead body and Kyohei’s sister, Utao Kuga appears to inform them that it’s the work of Aki Kuga, another Seki from their village who was locked up because he murdered people, and who is trying to make Kyohei accept his destiny of being a Seki. The rest of the anime follows Kyohei and his sister’s attempt to recapture Aki and Kyohei’s struggle to accept his fate.

Like most girls I love a good shoujo but what I liked about this anime was that there was the usual love story but there was so much action. And not magical girl Sailor Moon action either. I’m talking about blood was shed almost gory kind of action so it would be pretty enjoyable for boys too. All the characters were well written an developed in the anime one way or another. The art style wasn’t the best I’ve ever seen but it was pretty good since this is a fairly modern anime (it came out in the late 2000s). The voice actors were absolutely perfect (I watched the subbed version) and none of them were annoying or anything like that.

If I had to choose my favorite character it definitely would have to be Aki. He’s such a complex character and everyone sees him as this evil person when deep down inside he just wants someone to accept him and love him (just like Sensei and Kyohei to some extent did). Him and Kyohei are more alike than people realise and he understands that, that’s why he tries his best to get at Kyohei every opportunity he gets. Plus I’m a sucker for silver hair and a cocky attitude in an anime boy :s The bond between him and his Kakashi, Kuramitsuha is amazing and can only be rivaled with the bond between Kukuri and Kyohei. What I like most about Aki is that he could have been a totally different person had he been treated differently and he just shows us how society’s treatment of individuals could mean bad happenings for everyone involved.

I would’ve have liked to see more about the relationship between Utao, Kirio and Kyohei. I mean this is a twin that has been apart since birth and two brothers who know nothing of each other so it would’ve been interesting to see more of that relationship develop. Also the detective could have been left out (I’m assuming obviously his role would increase more in the manga) cause he didn’t offer much to the anime. The tension between Kyohei and his father was really interesting too and I would’ve like to see a confrontation between them since his father was in my opinion very weak and not a great dad. Plus where the fuck was Aki’s parents? lol I wanted to know more about his family life and why he was always alone. And I wouldn’t have objected to him becoming an item with either Mayako (since it as obvious she had a thing for him) or Kuuko cause she seemed like the type to keep him on his toes.

This anime has fast become one of my favorite anime. It’s in my top 5 now ^_^ It has something for everyone; it’s funny, it’s serious, there’s a love story, there’s action, there’s supernatural elements it’s just..a well rounded anime and I wish it was longer -__- There are 13 episodes along with 5 specials. The specials are cute and average around 2-4 minutes (if I remember correctly) although they’re not a must watch cause they’re not like an ova or anything. They’re more like…segments and they cater more to boys since it’s basically the female leads in cosplay clothes and sexy outfits lol But anyway I would definately reccommend anyone to watch this. You won’t regret it. I promise
