Into class I and Jasmine barged startling the entire class.
"Sorry!" Jasmine voiced as she walked off to the sitting students and took a seat.
I was left standing full, front and center as all eyes dawned onto me.
"Good morning." I said nervously, while waving to each of my students and taking a seat at my desk.
It was very awkward to hear the students thoughts about me and Jasmine.
Some liked the idea of us dating, some wondered and some just thought it wrong.
But I tried to just ignore the thoughts as I sipped some of my coffee and opened up my briefcase.
"So you two dating uh?" One of my students asked, that very same student that always gave me trouble
"That's not any of your business young man."-I replied bitterly while narrowing my eyes at him-"Now shut it and listen!"
His mouth went silent and said nothing more, I had finally grew tried of that boys mouth and couldn't help acting the way I had acted.
The only thing that cheered my up was when I spotted Jasmine chuckling out of the corner of my eyes.
I smirked discreetly to not embarrass the boy any further then I already had did.
"Now shall we begin!"-I announced with lifted hands and a wide grin-"Now if you'll all pull out your science books and return to the exact same page from yesterday please."
Without a question they got out their science books and opened them up to page 123.
"Okay!" I said as I pulled out a stack of research papers and stood to my feet.
"Yesterday we discussed the the molecular basis of mutations."-I said in a appealing voice as I gave my entire class a cocky smirk before giving a personal wink to Jasmine-"Today we'll be discussing the different types of DNA mutations."
As I carried on speaking I noticed Jasmine was staring rather oddly at me, her eyes didn't blink not once.
It baffled me a bit at first but at the time I shrugged it off, it didn't seem to be as big of a deal as my mind kept telling me it was.
But maybe I should've listened, it would've saved me a lot of trouble later on in the future.
"Now there are many different ways that DNA can be changed, resulting in different types of mutation. Here is a quick summary of a few of these."-I explained holding up a photo demonstration before continuing onto explain saying-"Substitution, a substitution is a mutation that exchanges one base for another that is, a change in a single chemical letter."
Back and fourth I paced as raised up a singer finger and continued to say-"...such as switching an A to a G. Such a substitution could change a codon to one that encodes a different amino acid and cause a small change in the protein produced. For example!"-I lowered my finger and lifted up another photo demonstration for my class.
"...sickle cell anemia is caused by a substitution in the beta-hemoglobin gene, which alters a single amino acid in the protein produced." I explained as I gazed up at Jasmine who sat dazed almost at my words and stare.
"So a single alter to the amino acid in the protein that is produced can cause sickle cell?"-Asked Jasmine curiously as the my class listened in, I nodded confirming it before she went on to say-"That is quite amazing professor?"
I nodded and chuckled as I blushed a little, Jasmine always had that type of affect on me.
She would always give me that same look with those same perfectly designed mysterious eyes of hers.
