OVERTHINKING??! MAYBE NOT!!!

How could he have left so quickly? I was dumbstruck. Even though his car had an overly-advanced engine, it still made noise. I didn't hear anything. Maybe I was over thinking things. I was a bit distracted....

I sighed, shaking my head in frustration. I couldn't delude myself about it; I was way too distracted by him... Mr.Hall was too handsome for his own good. I walked down the corridor towards the kitchen, and passed a mirror on the wall. I paused, turning to face it.

I didn't look like myself at all!! My hair was windswept, my cheeks were red, and I swore I could visibly see my heart beating through my shirt. It was like I was a whole new person. I wasn't sure if I liked her. Turning to the kitchen, I set my backpack on a chair, and saw my cat, Katze. I thought using the German word for cat would be an original thing to do. She was a black tabby, with white paws, and striking green eyes.

Katze meowed in greeting, lounging on her bed as I got a glass of water. "Hello Katze." I said, filling up the cup of ice. Talking to Katze in German was my parents idea. "If she has a German name, why not?" my mother said, and my father agreed. Mom and Dad.....they were still working. I wasn't even sure when they'd be back. But I was used to being alone; I liked solidarity. I have no clue why others wanted to surround themselves with people.

Taking the cup, I exited the kitchen, walking upstairs to my room. It was fairly big; all white furniture, and everything was neatly organized. I set the glass on my nightstand and changed into my pajamas. I didn't care how early it was. Flopping onto my bed, I fell into a deep sleep.

My eyes snapped open, and I found myself in a room I had never seen before. There was a long table in the center, surrounded with high backed chairs. Every chair was filled except for the seventh. It was a strange number of chairs to me; why not just put eight at the table?

One woman sat in her seat, hurriedly scarfing down a candy bar.

"G.... do you mind?" another woman said, rolling her eyes. G continued to eat, ignoring the others. A guy sat in his chair, his head on the table. He was snoring quietly, and nobody paid him any mind. Some guy randomly stood up, flipping his chair over. "Where the hell is he?" he shouted. "L's always late!" I flinched. Did nobody care there was an extremely angry man in the room?

"W....calm down. He'll be here."

"I doubt it. His car isn't as good as mine." a woman said haughtily.

"P, do us all a favor and shut up." a voice said. We all looked to the door, and I gasped. Mr.Hall was standing there smirking.

"Ah, L." she pouted, rolling her eyes.

I sat up quickly, breathing heavily. That couldn't have been a dream...It seemed so real...

I looked at my digital alarm clock, the only thing that was lighting up my room were the bright red numbers on it. Apparently it was only two o'clock in the morning. It felt like I slept longer than that... but I guessed I didn't. Now the problem was, I couldn't get back to sleep, even though I desperately wanted to.

I had to go to school in a few hours! I was going to be tired the whole day. I was plagued with thoughts of falling asleep in class, until my alarm clock buzzed, jolting me upright. Six o'clock. I exhaled slowly and got out of bed tiredly, sighing.

I thought taking a hot shower would help wake me up, but it didn't. The minute the water hit me, it felt freezing. I turned the water's temperature up and it only caused me to shiver. When I got out, I noticed there was steam on the mirror like the water had been hot.

I did my usual routine, but... I was slower about it. I tugged on my uniform, and looked at myself in the mirror. "...maybe wearing my hair down isn't so bad after all..." I muttered to myself, letting my hair cover the side of my face. I grabbed my messenger bag, and walked out of the house, starting the walk to school. The streets seemed surprisingly empty, when the sidewalks were usually filled with students heading to school. I looked down at my watch, and gasped. It was 7:55. I was officially LATE. I rushed the rest of the way to school, feeling my perfect record slipping away with each passing minute. I reached the school, and burst into the front office, panting. The secretary looked up, a surprised expression on her face.

"Persephone?? I've never seen you here past seven thirty..." she said in awe.

I sighed, and didnt respond feeling my face burn red in embarrassment. She typed my name into a computer, and printed out a tardy slip for me. I took it, walking up the stairs to my first class. Walking inside the history room, Ms.Dan looked at me in surprise. "Persephone... I thought you were sick, you're never late..." " I think I am sick..." I muttered, handing her the slip and walking to my desk before she could say anything.

The rest of the day consisted of me sitting in class irritatedly, trying not to get called on. I was too tired for it. I was too tired for school in general today. At lunch, Jade arched an eyebrow at me as I sat at the table, biting into an apple.

"You look different, Persephone...like, tired."

"I am tired. Exhausted, actually."

"Well what did you do?' she asked.

"That's the thing. I didn't do anything! It was like a regular day yesterday." I grumbled.

I didn't bother to tell her that Mr.Hall gave me a ride home or that I had that bizarre dream last night. I didn't expect her to understand....Hell, I didn't even understand what was going on.
