I walked into the library to study for potions, and met eyes with Remus, who was studying alone.

I sat across from him and noticed that bandages all over his right arm, that was holding a quill. His left arm was hidden under the table.

He noticed that I was looking at his arm, and suddenly his eyes widened in alert. He quickly lowered it under the table and avoided eye contact with me.

He didn't seem to want me to ask him about it, so I let it go.

"May I study here with you?" I asked, smiling at him.

"Sure." He replied, glancing down at his arms nervously.

I sat down in the chair across from him and we studied in silence, until curiosity took over me.

While I was curious about his bandaged arms, the thing on my mind was the light scars that stretched from the top left of his face to the bottom right of it.

"If you don't mind me asking, how did you get the scars that are across your face?"

He looked very nervous now.

"I-I was walking around when a d-dog suddenly attacked me."

Lie.

"Oh. I'm sorry about that. It must've been a pretty big dog." I pretended to look at his scars quizzically.

"Y-yeah. It was big and muddy. Must've been a s-stray."

Lie.

I closed my book and smiled at him. He didn't feel comfortable telling me the truth, and I respect that.

I sat up from my chair, bid him farewell and left the library.

Maybe it seems like I only went to the library to ask him about the scars...

Whoops.

As I was walking through the corridors, I bumped into a red haired Gryffindor.

I recognised her as the girl who didn't seem to like James as much as James liked her.

"Sorry." I said as she took a step back from the impact.

"No, no, it's ok. I guess I was deep in thought. Avery White, right?"

"Yep."

"Lily Evans. It's nice to meet you." She held out her hand and I shook it.

We walked until we were outside and sat down on a bench that lay in the shade of a tree. The sun was shining brightly and I peered through gaps in the trees of the forbidden forest, hoping to catch a glimpse of a centaur.

"So you're friends with Severus Snape?"

My smile suddenly faded. "I don't know anymore. We had an argument."

She looked at me pitifully. "I could try and sort it out if you want? Sev and I are good friends."

"No, it's best that I'm the one to sort it out. I just don't know how."
