"Are you any good with animals?" Newt Scamander asked, a hopeful look on his face.
"I guess so." I replied looking at him questionably.
"Right, would you mind helping me for a moment."
"Sure. What do you need help with, professor?"
"See, I've lost this creature of mine... Do you know anywhere that might contain a lot of shiny objects?" He asked, holding out a small brown suitcase.
"I'm guessing you've lost a niffler. My first guess would be in the trophy room, possibly."
"Right, the trophy room. Now where would that be?" He asked, chuckling nervously.

I entered the trophy room, Newt on my heel. He closed the door behind him and we silently crept around the room, the only light coming from my wand.
It was after hours, but Newt said I could be excused since I was helping him.
After a while, I spotted the niffler sitting on top of one of the cases, searching for a way in.
I lightly tapped Newts shoulder and pointed to it, and his grip on his case tightened as we slowly and carefully crept towards it, when the door flung open.
We both turned around as quick as lightning, met with a very tired and confused face of Minerva Mcgonagall.
"White, what are you doing out of bed?" She asked.
"Actually, I asked her to help me with something, professor." Newt answered for me.
"Oh, of course. Sorry, Mr. Scamander. If you need anything, staff are always happy to help."
Newt wasn't exactly paying attention, though as he was painfully watching as the niffler slipped out the doorway, so I nudged him slightly.
"Right- of course, professor. Thank you. Goodnight."
Minerva walked out the room, and as soon as she was gone, Newt collapsed on the floor in impatience and exhaustion.
"It's going to be a while before we find him again." Newt muttered. "Keep an eye out. If you find him, please catch him and bring him to me, if you're okay with that."
"Of course." I replied, smiling.
"People like you, don't they?" He asked, looking at me.
I pondered the thought for a moment, before finding my answer. "Not really. People seem to find me a bit annoying." I replied.
Newt smiled slightly at this, sitting up so his arms rested on top of his knees comfortably.
"You're in third year, right? Gryffindor?"
I nodded.
"You'll be in my first class, with the Slytherins."
"What house were you in when you came to school here?" I found myself asking.
"I was in Hufflepuff, the best house."
"Gryffindor is the best house." I replied teasingly.
"Hufflepuff."
"Gryffindor."
"Hufflepuff."
"Gryffindor."
"Hufflepuff."
"Gryffindor."
"Fine, we're equal then." Newt eventually said, sighing with a small smile.
I laughed. "That's so Hufflepuff of you."
"Are you saying that's a bad thing?" He asked, chuckling. "You should probably head back to your common room. It's getting pretty late."
I nodded, saying good night before getting up and walking out the room, and back to the Gryffindor common room.
"Gargoyle." I muttered the password silently, and let the portrait swing forward to reveal the common room and a cross-looking Sirius Black.
"And where have you been, missy?" He asked, raising a eyebrow. "Do you know how late it is?!"
"Yes, Sirius, I know how late it is-"
"Have- have you been out with a boy?!" He asked protectively.
"N-No! Well, technically yes, but-"
"You have? Avery!" He yelled in a not-too-loud way. He quickly became panicked, thinking of all sorts of things. "W-what if it was a Slytherin?! Or worse, Regulus!"
"No! What's got you so overprotective? I was helping out the new professor."
"...Oh. Ok." Sirius got up, giving me a suspicious look before walking in between the stairs of the girls and boys dormitories and looked up, before yelling out.
"James, Remus, Peter and Erin! It's ok, she was with a teacher!"
"Sirius!" I scolded, lightly hitting him on the arm. "People are trying to sleep!"
"Oh, sorry everyone!" He yelled again.
"You're such an idiot sometimes." I laughed. "Though, it appears the I have unlocked Mr. Blacks protective side."
"Indeed you have, Miss White."
A smile slipped over my lips. "Goodnight, Sirius."
"Night." He replied with a friendly smirk, before we parted our ways on the individual staircases.
