|| Remus' POV ||

From under James' Invisibility cloak I could see Avery walk in.

I heard her say Sirius' name and he instantly got up and hugged her. I felt my stomach knot. I wanted to turn away, but I couldn't. It was as if my eyes were frozen in place, watching them.

They muttered a conversation between each other and I so badly wanted to know what they were saying.

They broke away from the hug and Sirius looked teary.

They spoke to each other, and Avery looked so genuinely happy.

This time Avery was the one to pull Sirius in a hug, and I felt sick.

I felt as if I had been betrayed, but I knew it was illogical because Sirius had no idea about my feelings.

But I couldn't help it.

James looked at me, concerned. "Why don't we head back?" He muttered, and led us back up the steps silently.

When we got back to the dorm, I immediately walked over to my bed and closed the curtains around it.

I could hear Peter asking James what was wrong with me, and James told him it didn't matter.

It was wrong of me to act like this and I knew it. I wanted to stop, but I couldn't, no matter how hard I tried.

I was jealous.

I happily bounced down to the great hall, a grin very visible on my face. I spotted Remus sitting alone at the Gryffindor table and ran over, engulfing him in a hug.

"It worked! I'm friends with Sirius again!" I cheered, but became silent when Remus didn't respond. He didn't even look at me.

"Remus? Are you okay?" I asked, turning his head rewards me and placing a hand in hi forehead, checking his temperature.

"I'm fine. Not feeling too well, that's all. I'm going to head back to bed."

He got up and left the great hall, leaving me standing there, completely dumbfounded.

I awkwardly sat down at the Gryffindor table alone. I had woken up earlier then the girls and seemingly the marauders too.

I wonder if Remus was okay. He got sick often, but he never really acted like this. At least, not that I knew of.

Whilst I was staring at my empty plate in  deep in thought, I didn't know the rest of the marauders had walked in.

"Everything okay Avery?" James asked.

"Yeah, it's just Remus. Is he okay?"

"Don't worry about him, he's fine." James replied.

But the expression on James' told me he was thinking the complete opposite.

"What's up with Remus?" Sirius asked.

"Oh, y'know..." James looked down slightly. He didn't want either of them to know about Remus' crush. It was Remus' secret to give anyway.

"Wait... Wasn't the full moon last week?

"Shhh... Yeah but- it's just like how you and me get sick sometimes, y'know?"

"Oh, ok. I'm gonna go see him at free period."

"Uh..." James wasn't sure whether to stop him or not. He thought about it, and eventually decided that it would be good for Remus. "...yeah."

(Third person POV)

The day went rather slowly for Avery. Professor Binns class dragged on as first period as usual. She noted that Remus wasn't there, so she watched Peter making enchanted paper aeroplanes on his desk in front of hers, where she sat with Lily.

She felt something hit the back of her head and she turned around to see James smirking, hand in the air that dignified he had thrown a paper plane at her, which fluttered to the ground. She took a piece of paper and scrunched it up, threatening  to throw it at James, when she noticed Sirius, who was sat next to James, throw one over her head.

She dropped her paper ball and turned around, hand still in the air as she watched the plane fly right through Professor Binns, as he was a ghost.

Her face contorted into a horrified look as Professor Binns looked up at her sourly.

"Miss White, detention." He said, voice still monotone as it had been whilst he was going on about the great goblin war.

She looked at him, mouth hanging open in complete disbelief, before she got up and walked out the door, glaring at Sirius and James as she passed.

When she got outside, she realised she had no idea what she was supposed to do. It's not like she had ever been sent out of a classroom before, so she lowered herself down to the floor, sitting against the wall.

She pulled a book out of her cloak pocket; fantastic beasts and where to find them.

She flipped to a page that had been marked with a small sticky note, with a picture of a green stick with leaves and eyes;

Beasts of the wizarding world had always peaked Avery's interest. Her favourites were Nifflers, but bowtruckles cam a close second, and she had always wanted one of these fantastic beasts as a companion. She had already planned ahead for it, deciding that if she got one she would name it

She read the information in her book about Bowtruckles, smiling slightly.

Avery was so caught up in reading she didn't notice the door open and close again.

"Watcha reading?" A teasing voice asked, causing Avery to snap her head up and lightly punch him.

"That's the first time I've been sent out of the classroom you goblin!"

Sirius chuckled.

"Get sent out of the classroom too?" Avery asked.

"Purposely. Thing we could give Remus a little visit."

At this, Avery stood up, closing her book and stuffing it back into her pocket. "Well come on, then!"
