#7 - It's my treat!

That same evening, I was laying upon my bed. Every time I cast my glance upon the bandage around my left ankle, I couldn't help but think of Fire Guy.

Was it right to tell him all that stuff about my ex-boyfriend?

Only Kiyoko and Ryu knew that story... they were my best friends, so it was normal. But this guy... it wasn't more than a week that I'd met him and he already knew that much about me. The thought made me shiver a bit. I had promised myself not to trust a guy like that again, or else I'd get hurt again exactly the way that happened with my ex.

Of course, the doctor had told me not to play volleyball for at least one month and this made me feel incredibly sad.

Still, the gleam in his eyes and his grin gave me warmness and made me feel safe like it had never happened before. I slowly fell asleep, still thinking about him.

*A few hours before*

"Let me help you, senpai" he smiled "You can't just do everything by yourself. You're human, unlike our scary first year setter... Gosh, he seems to be everything but human!"

I didn't speak a word. I let him help me although I was determined to walk home by myself. The air was cool and the sun was setting.

"It will be dark in less than half an hour... I can't let a pretty girl walk alone in the dark, even though she's my senpai. Someone could harass you" he spoke.

"How can you even talk about sexual harassment in those calm manners?!" I let out without mentioning he'd called me "pretty girl" again. My face was red, though, and the mere fact that he'd wrapped an arm around my body to help me walk home didn't help, either.

He grinned. "Ne, what are you waiting for? It's late... put your arm around my shoulders, so I can help you".

"W-WHAT?!"

"Like this" he replied, then he grabbed my hand and brought my arm around his shoulders. My heart was jumping into my chest like it was Hinata for heaven knows what reason.

We were walking like that, wrapped and bound together in our black volleyball jackets, when my stomach suddenly cried out with a long, low noise.

Nishinoya looked at me and burst out laughing.

"Ne, I didn't know senpais get hungry, too" he teased

I tried to smile but his face was so close and so warm that the sudden urge of touching it made me shiver.

"Let me see... It's around dinner time. We can go to a very nice ramen place, it's not far" he spoke.

My heart started racing again, faster than ever.

Oh. My. God. I hope I'm not having a heart attack right now.

"Mmmh... Okay, it's a good idea" I hummed.

Nishinoya took me to a very nice ramen bar and helped me to take a seat at a small table for two people. Then, he went to the toilet for a while. I was getting myself at ease, but as soon as I turned my face towards the counter, I saw a familiar baldie coming towards us.

"Ryu?! I didn't know you worked here after practice!" I nearly screamed in a squeaky voice.

"Shhhh! Don't go ape, Bro, or I'll get fired for the third time this month! I just want to earn a little money in an earnest way, you know" he proudly said "But... are you here all alone?".

"Uhmm..." I stuttered.

Just then, Nishinoya was back and took the other seat.

"Hey, Ryu! When did you start working here? I didn't know that!" he cheerfully spoke.

"I started a couple of days ago and they haven't hired me yet, so you two don't be noisy, please" he begged us with his hands clasped as if he were praying in front of a deity. Then, he seemed to transform into the usual Tanaka we knew and asked: "What are you doing here you two all alone?! Are you a couple, aren't you? When did all this happen? Why didn't you tell me?". He was pouting like a baby.

"We're not a couple!" I nearly choked.

I want to disappear!

After eating our ramen, I was looking for my wallet inside of my bag when Nishinoya said: "Get lost, it's my treat".

"But... I'm the senpai here!" I couldn't help but reply. My words caused him to start making dramatic gestures and pretending to cry.

"And I'm the useless kouhai! It was me who proposed coming here... [Name]-chan! Whoops... can I call you like that?"

I stared at him for a bunch of seconds.

"Y-yes, Nishinoya-kun"

"Please don't always remind me I'm your kouhai... Just call me Noya, okay?"

"Okay... Noya"

"Good! Am gonna pay" he blinked.

As I arrived at my place, it was already dark.

"Uhm... Thank you for walking me home, Noya" I spoke

"Naaah, don't mention it"

"And for the dinner, too..."

"It was good as a first date" he smiled, causing me to blush "Don't worry, I'm joking. Then I'll get going. Good night, [Name]-chan!"

"Noya, wait..!"

"Yes?"

"You know... you kouhais aren't useless..." I stuttered. He smiled.
