#13 - It's a secret

"I didn't know the match was today, Ryu!" I let out, finally managing to look away from the grumpy-looking Nishinoya.

What's up with him?

My best bro laughed about. "Didn't you see Hinata jumping across the gym?"

"Yeah, kinda"

"Ne, and we Nekoma cats will spank your plumed Karasuno crow asses" my creepy Cheshire cousin teased, causing even salty Tsukishima to go pale with shock. I actually was kinda sure Tsukishima was one of that English Victorian fellows who get scandalised for such things in public but on the inside they secretly go with it. Sort of demon butlers, we could say.

"I don't think so. I'm gonna defeat you all!" Hinata boldly spoke.

"You're not the only one on the court, Hinata. I'm gonna play my part as an ace, too" Asahi smiled.

Everybody looked excited about the upcoming match. Even Yamaguchi's usually nervous freckled face was shyly smiling. But there was one guy who looked distracted, just as if his mind was cast away on a desert island. Nishinoya, alone as Robinson Crusoe with his Mikasa ball, Wilson.

I finally decided to go and approach him. While I was on my way towards him, Tetsurou intercepted me.

"You pain in the arse" I tried not to yell at him, so I just hissed "Leave me alone for a while"

"How rude of you. We haven't seen each other for months. You didn't even call" he smirked.

"Well, there's a reason why. I was in peace. Now, will you excuse me?"

"Where are you going? Can I come with you?" he ironically begged.

"No! You know what? You seem the perfect pairing for Victorian Salty Tsukishima. Maybe you'll get along well"

"But you're actually as salty as him. You two should date!". These words made me shiver at once.

"Stop it! I don't like him, he's so slimy, exactly as you. I actually like someone else" I said, but I immediately realised it was a huge mistake.

"Noooo, tell me! Who is he... or she? I won't discriminate you, if so"

"Just leave me alone!" I pushed him aside.

Just then, Daichi came and told Tetsurou the match was close at hand so they'd better get ready. I wouldn't be able to talk to Nishinoya.

"Thank you, cousin" I sarcastically spoke "You ruined everything".

And there I left him, with a huge question mark engraved on his face.

"Noya!" I finally was able to reach him at the entrance of the boys' locker room. He was wearing his bright orange Karasuno uniform. I was astounded because I had never seen him in it. He looked cool. The bright shade of orange perfectly suited him and matched with his hazel eyes... but those eyes didn't look as cheerful as they usually were. I wondered why.

"What's up, [Surname]?"

My heart sinked. [Surname]?! He acted formally. Why didn't he call me by my name, as he did when we ate ramen together? I... I just wanted to tell him I'd love it if we could do it again, but my mouth couldn't speak the words. And no, it wasn't his cute - even though not smiling - face or his thighs, arms or butt that stopped me... I couldn't get what was the matter with him.

"Uhm..."

"Senpai, I have a match to play" he spoke in the same formal, distant voice.

I was about to cry and my heart was racing. Before I could rationally think about it, I grabbed his wrist, causing him to turn back to me again.

"What..?" he said "Why are you grabbing me like that if you have him to do this to you?!" he looked offended.

I wanted to ask him some explanations, but before I could he had freed himself from my grasp and was heading back to the court.

And there he left me, helpless, with a huge question mark on my face and my eyes filled with tears.

This time I even managed to write a one-shot... It's really been a looooong time since I last updated my one-shot collection, actually... heheheh
