"So you two... now are you two..." I couldn't really manage to say the word "together". Not referring to my best friend and the boy I loved getting together as a couple.
"Let me finish" he sighed "You really are annoying when it gets to let people talk, you know"
"O-okay, you're right" I simply spoke.
But in the meantime, the vision of the names Nishinoya Yuu and Shimizu Kiyoko standing there, written on the top of the "Best Pro Exam Score" list in the hallway couldn't just leave room to any other possibility.
"As I was telling you before being interrupted, I've always liked her. But this was until I realised that what I wanted was right by my side. This is why I refused her, to cut it short" he said.
There was some silence in which my brain was trying to analyse the words I had just listened. I couldn't believe them. I thought it was impossible and that I was mistaken, somehow.
"Sorry?"
"I refused her" he slowly repeated. Then, after a short pause, he addded: "Yeah, I couldn't believe it myself. Me refusing the Goddess"
I wasn't able to speak a word. I just sat there, fixing him with my eyes wide open and my jaw almost falling on the floor.
"Good, I'll go on then" he said. Maybe it was just my imagination, but he seemed to strive to speak as if the words he was saying were hard to say. Or maybe he just was tired from the match.
"Yeah, please" I told him "I didn't understand what you meant before... when you said 'What I wanted was right beside me'..."
"... Okay. I must admit that 'what I want' is really a dumb person, then. You're not making it easier, [Name]-chan" he sighed having a little smile. "What I want is... someone. Yeah, someone who is like a bro to me..."
"YOU MEAN... TANAKA?!? OR ASAHI?!" the thought of being defeated by a boy in conquering Nishinoya's love suddenly made me anxious but... who knows? Everything is possible.
"WHAAAA-?! You should know I like breasts! And let me speak, the heck!" he yelled. Then he went on in a quieter tone: "That person is a girl. She is cute, really gorgeous. Yeah, a cute, dumb, messy girl. She is always insecure about herself, but she is so good at making others feel better when they are not doing fine. She will always help you when you need her and will always be by your side. This girl is impulsive, ambitious and brave. And she is sexy, so sexy I could... I could die onto her body right now".
I was astonished. My mouth was dry, but I finally spoke: "Wow... Nishinoya, this girl... she must be so lucky".
"I told you you're dumb, [Name]" he smiled.
Then, before I could realise it, our fingers were intertwined and I could feel the warmth of his face. His lips had only lightly touched mine at first, then our mouths were kissing and our tongues were twisting like crazy. I slowly closed my eyes.
When we parted, I whispered: "Noya... one more".
He grinned and replied: "How greedy, love". Then he granted my wish.
"This is the second time we kiss" he then said, pulling a strand of my hair from my face.
"Huh? So you noticed..." I had a giggle with an arm behind my neck.
"Yup" he cooed "Who knows? Maybe it was that, the thing which made me be the best in the exam. But now that I get to think about it... I'm not sure about the perks of going to that university, to be honest. You know... I have now realised I didn't do it because of Kiyoko-san, as I thought before"
"Mmmh" I hummed, licking my upper lip- thing that made Noya smirk "I think you should get some information about the volleyball club anyways... or else you could regret it someday"
"Really? I knew that" he smiled.
"Knew what?" I questioned.
"You always put the others first. This is what I like about you the best... after your butt, obviously" he grinned and squeezed my ass.
"Y-you pervert!" my face went red, but it definitely went purple as he added "We must tell Taki you have a boyfriend, now".
